Oh. My.

OK. It's all right. Once I get the magazine feed system working on my New Vaquero, I'll regain the title of "top amateur gun molester" :D.

From the standpoint of handing out the...Oh Neat! award they are a contender and as far as a commercial product....doubtful, but then look how many permutations the M1 carbine went thru before they decided on the first production model.

Just think how many countries that contracted to build their own licensed version of the FN Battle rifle, how far ahead they would have been if they had of had someone inhouse to design or combine and adapt 2 designs to take advantage of tooling and expertise they already had to make a home grown product.

Man I wish I was mechanically inclined. :)

A+ in the spiffy, pretty, and creative departments. F in the practical department - Those things can't be very accurate unless some very skilled and very time-consuming hand-fitting was done, and they're probably not cost/time-efficient... easier just to work a few hours overtime and buy the real thing.

Still, kudos the to the artists who made them happen! Always nice to see creativity applied in useful ways! :D

Yuck! Marrying up a high-class FAL with a low-rent SKS - gotta be someone's idea of a sick joke. That sorta thing should be outlawed!:D

Word is the guy working on these is looking tp get BATFE approval and sell them. If he can make them look like Chinese Type 81 Rifles then I would jump on one.

I love the longer sight setup. Adjustable gas is a nice thought, but not a problem for me and my SKS.
If the price were right, and I knew I could replace parts as they wore out on my own, I might jump on it.

I'm not sure if it's all THAT much like a FAL (I see the resemblance, but there's just a lot of difference).

Still, the different receiver blocks for the furniture attachment is at least a cooler mod than just tossing on a Tapco stock. Looks like a lot of work went into it and the result is kinda neat.

Looks like the inventor took all the heavy parts from both types of rifles and combined them to fire the less powerful 7.62x39. Sort of like combining a Browning BAR with an M1 Garand for the purpose of spitting out .223's.:D I'd say it's utility is about that of a belt-fed .223 semi-auto "assault" rifle.

I know...."Skans, stop hating on this rifle...." I just can't help it - I'm old school, where "hating" on ugly useless things wasn't bullying, just "quality control".:D

Just to make sure I'm tracking here...it's a FAL built around an SKS action? Also, is the magazine detachable? I'm impressed by your abilities to even make the idea a reality, well done.

My first thought was, "What the 'smeg' is this guy smoking?"

But, then I got to thinking....

The pistol grip is a nice addition to an SKS.
The stock geometry is an improvement over the SKS's.
The detachable magazines appeal to a lot of people (though, not myself).
Feeding this hybrid is cheaper than feeding an FAL.

Give me this one at a decent price, with a 15-20 round box magazine, and I'd probably have to fight myself not to buy it:

It's ugly, but I understand now. ;)
