NY Cops Part 2

Spent shell casings were found in the car.

Spend shell casings can be found in my car. Does that mean I fired on police? Must have been a hell of a sleepwalking experience, because I have no recollection of it.

Regarding hyperbole, I'm well aware of the word. However, his excessive and pointed use of hyperbole to negatively describe and dehumanize people says a lot about his attitudes towards others. It stands to reason that those attitudes would play a large role in justifying his own actions towards others, as well as the way he perceives the actions of others.

Harder to justify those shell casings if you're a convicted felon, and as such disallowed from legally owning a weapon.

I would have come right out and said, argumentative and confrontational. But that's just an observation and may not be entirely true. It does fit a certain mold that I've noticed in a lot big city police. Not just those from NYC.

Dear Antipitas:

Below is the EXACT ver-batim quote Homerboy used. I cut and pasted the ENTIRE paragraph, so there is no way it is out of context, and it follows here below:

"...You want me to agree the criminal justice system is flawed? OK, I will. These three mutts should have been taken out back and shot long ago. None of them held a job, they've been nothing but burdens to the rest of society."

I believe, the entire sentence, in EXACT context, says "These three mutts should have been taken out back and shot long ago" and was followed by the statement, "None of them held a job" so I cannot for the life of me understand how it does not mean exactly what it says.

Astounding. How can it be that he did not say what he said, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, how can you criticize me for not reading it, when you yourself have obviously failed to do so?

My comment was that he was unfit for law enforcement if he felt a person should be murdered for the same reason that Hitler wanted all Jews killed, or if he was just joking, he is was unfit in my opinion for thinking advocating murder was funny. I disagreed. Am I wrong to not get a chuckle here?

Granted, as you say, he has posted other comments on this thread (such as refering to suspects when this thread began as "Mutts") however, I thought the "should be taken out and shot" since they did not "hold a job" was of slightly more importance.

I have an idea. Instead of suggesting I did not read his comment, and admonishing me for my reasoning of my statement, why not do this?

Why not instead, consider if it is acceptable for a law enforcement officer to post a suggestion such as the one I placed above (VER-BATIM) for your immediate reference and covnenience?

I am not concerned with his other posts. I am just concerned with how you determine that the EXACT statement I referenced in my comment, which was cut and pasted above EXACTLY as it appeared, would suggest I did not bother to read his comment previous to posting my original statement.

If you find that comment acceptable for an LEO to put on the Internet, fine. I simply disagree. However, I assure you I read things COMPLETELY and FULLY previous to posting a comment. You might want to try it also, as it helps one understand what is going on.

What I simply meant (hence the hyperbole) is none of these three cretins with the long violent arrest records held a job. They contribute nothing but negatives to society. I am not advocating actually taking them out back and shooting them as a law enforcement initiate. I'm just saying when they kill each other or when a cop takes one out who is trying to kill him, it is no loss to society. How many people have these cretins preyed on?

Next time you say, "I'm so hungry I can eat a horse", start at the rear end first.

I guess I am old-fashioned, but I prefer discussions with a factual basis.

Although I have not hovered over my computer waiting for each news story about this incident, I have tried to periodically keep up with events.

I do not remember any reference to the employment status of the three men in the car. A supporting link would be helpful.

I have seen some reporting citing the men's arrest records. However, if I remember correctly, the stories said two of the men had sealed juvenile records. Have the sealed records been unsealed? A supporting link to show the nature and extent of the juvenile arrests would be helpful.

If you saw the interview of the fiance, she admitted nether she nor Bell worked and both received public assistance.

The absense of the media reporting their employment is the evidence you need. Every other time it's "John Smith, an iron worker from Astoria", etc. And I know guys who work in the unit and saw the paperwork. The other two guys were unemployed, as well.

I don't know what papers you've been reading, but ALL of the papers in NY have listed the guys priors. All of them had felony gun collars, drug collars, and robbery collars. Guzman, the guy hit 11 times, just got out after serving several years. They did mention they had juvenile records IN ADDITION to their adult offenses.

I see it as saying a lot about his attitudes towards violent career criminals who live off of other people's tax dollars both in and out of prison, as opposed to "others" in general.

Antipitas:

You remind me of a little kid tattling on his big brother. You actually took the time to write a letter of complaint? How old are you, 5?

Look, it's this simple. I have plenty of compassion for hard working, law abiding people of all races. I bent over backwards to help them even when I didn't have to, and even when it could have gotten me in serious trouble (being out of my sector, giving civilians a left when I shouldn't have). I've helped many of them shovel their cars out, change flats, etc when that was most certainly not in my scope of employment. I've helped deliver several babies and one of them carries my name as his middle name.

I have no sympathy for predators in this society. I feel we would be better off if they all commited mass suicide. They bring nothing but pain and fear to the rest of society. I was not advocating actually taking them out back and shooting them, although I have to admit I actually do laugh when I read of them smoking each other. Honestly, I hope they keep it up since our criminal justice system obviously does not reform them.

These mutts from the Queens shooting are not victims. From my own real world experience, they knew EXACTLY who the cops were. We used to park our "unmarked" cars right in front of the precinct since we had no parking lot. I have been in that club. It is a criminal magnet. Those mutts knew they were being stopped, and the mutt driving tried to take out a police officer doing his job. He's dead now. Good riddance. If I had his address in hell, I'd sent him a sweater and mittens.

If you ever get into a shooting, you'll know what these guys went through. See if you count your shots or think about where your shots MAY go if you miss. You will squeeze off as many as you can and hope not to take one yourselves. Your read a newspaper article from the comfort of your La-Z-boy and think you can judge these men in the trenches? You couldn't hold a candle to these guys.

Oops, sorry Antipitas. I read the thread wrong. I meant to address my last thread to Gary. My apologies.

We're never gonna agree on this. There are those who give the benefit of the doubt to cops, and those who love nothing more than to second guess than. The only civilian I would even consider listening to on these topics is one who has been in a shooting. All others are not qualified to respond, just like those who haven't been in combat shouldn't judge those who have. When your life flashes before your eyes, see how restrained you are on the trigger.

Just one, and it was a dog. I confess it's not the same as a person, but turning and seeing a vicious pitbull with no vocal cords about to take a bite out of me shot my adrenaline through the roof. I jumped on a car and fired as he came at me. When it was over (4 shots later), I had no idea if I even hit it, and I had no idea how many rounds I have fired.

All that aside, I have responded to MANY cop shootings. When you shoot a person, you go into shock. Guys have no idea how many rounds they have fired.

How many have you been in, Shaggy? (not counting perp shaped targets, paintball, or House of Dead II on XBox)

I'll admit I haven't been involved in any (thankfully), but then I'm not the one claiming a citizen is not qualified to question the actions of their government in a situation like this ...unless they've had the experience of shooting a dog.

The only civilian I would even consider listening to on these topics is one who has been in a shooting. All others are not qualified to respond, just like those who haven't been in combat shouldn't judge those who have.

When you shoot a person, you go into shock. Guys have no idea how many rounds they have fired.

Perhaps though, you aren't qualified to make the second statement. Maybe statements like that should be left to those who have actually shot a person, not a dog (the fact you apparently hold some citizens in no higher regard than dogs or "MUTTS", notwithstanding).

I admitted my dog shooting was not the same. I could have posted a lie and said I've been in several. My point is drawing, aiming, and firing a weapon when you are in danger is not like shooting paper, and since I have been at the scene of many shootings (including civilians shooting civilians), I can say that shooting a person does spin you into shock, and most people have no recollection of the events that transpired.

I'm far more qualified to pass judgement than some armchair warrior who's never been in the ghettos. In the last three days alone in NYC, cops have been involved in three seperate shootings in three different boroughs. It's heating up out there, and you can expect more MUTTS to be taking shots at cops. I hope they fire as many shots back at the MUTTS as they need to to go home safe.

Maybe if people were called citizens, taxpayers or at least humans instead of MUTTS there wouldn't be so much animosity toward the cops.

I bar tend sometimes for a friend and there is a retired cop from NYC that comes in and his favorite saying is "i'll have one and give these other mutts one, to him, it's funny but if he was a younger man one of these hicks would toss him thru the wall.

I just don't see this thread going anywhere, except further down the slope it has already taken.

I don't believe that perpetuating the "us v. them" attitude, is in line with our mission here at TFL.
