Nugent Caught Poaching in CA

You're calling foul because the man has enough money to hire things done for him? That's funny. What a nit picker

No, I am calling foul because he "took responsibility" for his actions when he had little other choice (or risk losing cushy TV contract), in other words, after the fact and when there was no possibility of winning the case. He didn't take responsibility when it mattered, before he engaged in hunting in a land where he didn't know the laws himself.

I think it's a reasonable assumption that with all the papparazzi out there that if ol Ted broke a game law that we would hear about it.

Well that failed. He broke the laws back in 2009 and we didn't hear about it. The show aired 9 Feb 2010 and we didn't hear about it. It was not until this month when the court case was announced. So the reasonable assumption isn't very reasonable.

I don't like what i know of Ted Nugent.

I have made mistakes and have paid for them, many times. His worth in the public's eyes will depend on what happens next, how he makes amends. Hopefully, the goober will use it as a teaching moment for the youngsters who could be influenced by him.

like him or not . . .

. . . one thing is for sure . . . .

The Whackmaster has offended hoardes of anti-hunters/anti-gunners over the course of his celebrity status affording him the ability to do so.

And he has done it with, shall we say, "jus' a li'l bit" of mauling involved.

Now, (I fear) they will seek (with seething, frothy-mouthed, red-eyed, green-vomit-hurling, yellow-toothed fury) their opportunity to settle the (perceived) score.

Look out Teddy!

They's a comin' fer ya!

Rmocarsky

P.S.:

I like Uncle Ted.

Faults and all.

So you're inferring that he did it on purpose and is lieing about it. That makes no sense whatsoever. If he did it as some kind of defiance to the Laws then he would have said so.

I don't think you can make that assumption. There are many men who make claims they never think they'll be confronted with.

Nugent is rich and famous with powerful political connections. The odds of his paying the debts his mouth accrues, are very small.

I tend to think his first reaction was to send in the lawyers.

I hear a lot of complaints about Ted, but what about the guide?

I would think the guide, who set up the hunt, plays a much bigger role in this. If I were to hire a guide, I would expect him/her to know local laws and what is acceptable and what is not. I would be highly PO'ed at the guide if I got caught up in a situation like this.

Personal Responsibility

The guide may very well have screwed up. But, have you ever heard the saying: you can delegate authority, but you can't delegate responsibility.

Pointing fingers at someone else seems to be the national passtime. Our President is a champion of this.

^ Roy, You are correct. But in this situation, what was the role of the guide?

If you were in Teds Shoes, what would you expect from the guide?

If it were my idea to bait the deer, I would expect the guide to say "No way, that is illegal."

When I put my sights on a deer, I would expect the guide to tell me whether it was a legal dear or not. "Nope, not here, we have to let that one go. It is not legal here in this state."

To his credit, I will say that he is doing a far better job of taking responsibility for his actions than 99.99% of the other celebs and rock stars out there. Hes not trying to throw the guide or his crew under the bus for it, and the judge is taking it easy on him by allowing him to plead no contest instead of guilty (they don't have to let you do that).

It may not be the brightest point of his career, but at least he's handling it with integrity.

I'd blame the guide (the so-called professional or conman) and government for instituting such a collection of BS laws that anyone could find themselves in violation of at anytime.

If any freedom loving American is not violating one law during their daily travels than you are lucky or a wussy.

You left out one entity to blame. You left out President Bush.

You left out President Bush.

Was he there? Him and old nuge hitting the bottle together?

Any hunter that hunts anywhere should know the laws, I would never leave it up to someone else. Get the handbook and read it, I see them in every sporting goods store, the corner gas station, walmart etc. Ted is as much to blame as the guide, more so as he shot the thing.
