Now it can Be Told..

Well y'all know I was down as a witness in A Federal Case...it's over and so now:

"Man convicted of gun trafficking faces prison

SAN DIEGO: A New York man who told an undercover federal agent that he could sell over a 1,000 guns in war-torn Ivory Coast was convicted of weapons trafficking charges in San Diego federal court and faces up to 20 years in prison.

Yssouf Diabate, 41, of Brooklyn, tried for months to get weapons dealers to sell him guns, prosecutor William Cole said in court filings.

In June, a San Diego weapons manufacturer who refused to sell him high-capacity magazines, which are illegal in New York, called the Department of Homeland Security when he said he wanted to ship them to Africa.

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent posing as a gun dealer contacted Diabate, told him that exporting guns to Ivory Coast was illegal but sold him guns anyway, Cole said.

Diabate was arrested Sept. 26 after he and the undercover agent tried to ship gun parts hidden inside a video monitor."

My small role in this was I was one of the dealers this numbskull contacted in order to get guns to ship to Africa...needless to say, I refused.

So any comments on how I am a traitor, etc?:D

Just based on the info in your post, I would say that the guy was not only stupid, but criminally stupid.
No one in their right mind would come to California to purchase illegal weapons and parts. Not only are the restrictions tougher than most places, but the dealers are extremely paranoid about getting burned for not dotting every "i" and crossing every "t".

Good work Wild.

Africa is effed up enough without American gun dealers fuelling the problem. Good work on refusing and good work on testifying. :D

Obviously a criminal mastermind. I'm so glad that we needed an undercover sting operation to catch this modern-day Lex Luthor.

High-capacity mags can be bought anywhere in red-state america, most places with no id even presented to check if you are a state resident.

This dastardly deviant will never dare to dabble in dangerous devices like firearms again.

I guess it's my cynical nature, but I smell a rat (not you Wild:) ). Why, with all the weapons available in other parts of the world, would anybody attempt to buy guns in the US? Makes no sense at all.

So now, with all your hidden guilt brought out into the open, are you planning to sell us ALL your inventory at less than cost ??? :D

So Wild, did the Feds treat you right while you were in our lovely state? Did you fly first class and stay in nice hotels? Did you get some really good Mexican food too?
BTW, good on you for adding to the jerk's case. Last thing we need is more bad press and having one of our own help convict him looks good. (Not that the Left would notice or care, but we do.) And thanks for letting us know what you were really doing.

Who do you think Wild is? The Yukon's answer to Jesse Jackson or Al Gore? :D

Wild, I do hope you managed to get some decent Mexican food while enjoying San Diego's weather. If you come down to silicon valley, let me know and I'll treat you to some good Italian.

This distardly deviant has been violating export laws for some time, must have goteen sloppy.

BTW, it was the mags that tipped em off, it was the guns that did him in

Really? guess they should have let this drip smuggle stuff out of the US willy nilly?

Did you get some really good Mexican food too?

Yeah off a taco cart on Calle Couhilla in the Zona Norte, and if you know where that is, keep quiet about it:cool: :D

I still remember the 60 minutes 'expose' on the guy trying to

get guns (50 cal) to some eastern block country. How he was smuggeling this terrible weapon that could shoot down a helecopter! They totally missed the part about the folks who were buying the guns were 'freedom fighters' who were trying to over through an oppressive government. but keep in mind in this day and age we can't have folks fighting for freedom, well not unless they are on our side....

weapon that could shoot down a helecopter

What the media probably doesn't understand is that this

250px-M82rifle.jpg

is not designed to shoot down helicopters, even with iron sights.

THIS on the other hand

m82a2-3.jpg

was designed for moving targets like jeeps, trucks, etc. although there are very few of them since they seemed impractical :(

Edit: an M60 with AP rounds can take down a helicopter more easily than someone with a .50 BMG sniper rifle (assuming moving target)

Even if a helicopter was stationary a 7.62 x 51 round to the head of the pilot would take out the chopper.

buenos dias Wild....

Wild did you try the hotdogs wrapped in bacon?:D

So you think its OK to allow the free and unfettered smuggling of firearms into a civil war ridden country where the entire international community including us has prohibited it?
