Non +P .38 Ammo

What purpose? One of the most effective .38 Special load of all, and the most effective in non +P, is the 146 grain lead semi-wadcutter HP. The old "Treasury" or FBI" load. Will lead the barrel so if plinking would use hard-cast reloads or commercial target ammo. For defense, this is a grat load.

Thanks for the comments. I have 158 gr. Federal Nyclads for use in my SP 101, which I often don't carry because of the weight.

For the AirLite Kit Gun, I'm looking to fill a nitch: optimal trade off between tolerable recoil on me and adequate effect on the target.

The nitch is presently being filled with an NAA 22 Mini Master Magnum.

My present inclination is to load the AirLite Kit Gun with RBCD .38 specials.

I use the Federal 110 Gr JHP "Personal Defense Load" in my snubby 38. Decent round with good performance, low muzzle flash and light recoil.

Just what works for me, your mileage will vary.

tyro, I run the .38 Spec. (60 gr, 1705 fps / 385 flbs) in my S&W 342. I think that you will like it. I just heard the results of the test run by Kentucky Rifle using the .380 (45 gr, 1500 fps / 283 flbs) and he will post a report eventually. We can only assume that the .38 Spec. would be even better.

Many thanks, Jeff.

I'll be interested to see the report by Kentucky Rifle.

I don't doubt I'll like the RBCD .38 Special.
