Noise at the range

I am lucky, the range I shoot at is broken in to 3 different sections divided by hard walls. Each section is 35 yards and had ten shooting positions.
One of the 3 is for long guns and they will allow 223 as long as there soft point bullets.
I have been shooting for a long time and things bother even me in the range at times. But there are also people that have no range etiquette (I hate that word but it works).
Two weeks ago I was working with a lady with a Walter p22 when this guy comes in and gets the position next to us. We were the only ones in that section and he had 10 other positions to choose but took up the next position.
He pulls out a Contender in .223 and commences to shake the walls,,, had this been a fair world we would have been legal to shoot him, but no. We just moved to another range and thanked him on the way out.
Then last weekend, I put new iron sights on a Winchester 52, 22 LR and I was in the long gun range doing really good. ½ inch groups at 35 yards.
When a Indiana Game warden came in with 8 young people. I stopped shooting until he got them set up, and then commenced shooting. He was allowing people to pick one of 5 guns that he brought and shoot a mag or cylinder full out of them.
These are NEW shooter that never shot a gun before,,, that’s alright, got to start some where.
I’m standing there with this rifle tucked into my shoulder, peep sights and drilling the target, when I hear.
“Ok, I told you once, this is the last time, the gun is always pointed down range!”
Not something you really want to hear in a range only 3 feet away from you.
I thought about leaving but,,,,, I am on,,,
Down the sight, finger on trigger, wait for the front site to align,,,,,
BANG and a FLASH right behind me,,,lit up the entire aria.
I hit the floor,,,,,
When I looked up,,,, there was this sweet cute 20 year old girl with a camera taking pictures of her boy friend as he shot the gun!
You will all be proud of me,,,, I didn’t say a word, I just packed up, left the target down range,,,
And I am happy to say the Game Worden didn’t say anything to me on my way out.
The world is a wonderful place, but there are times it would be better not to have a gun in your hand.
