No worries, plenty of casing mouth flare....

Not quite on this one, LOL ! Furthermore, once you start the motion cycle you have to finish on the Dillon 650 or everything gets screwed up and out of sync.

Yup, this one goes up on the "Wall Of Shame".

Well you clearly don't know how to size the neck of your case , here let me show you how it's done .

I actually did observe a small flare on the mouth and tried once with light ram pressure, no go, tried with a bit more "authority" and still no go , then just said "screw it" and cranked the ram, I knew immediately what that casing was going to look like ! The .429 Magnus bullets I was loading have a very sharp edged base profile and they need a generous flare to start seating squarely.

Road Clam, there is an outfit that makes a "stepped" powder funnel. Like an "M" die, I don't remember the name, but bing can probably find it.

I use one for my .45ACP and it helps quite a bit with keeping bullets straight.

I once did something like that on a single stage. A .429 bullet made its way into the cup of .410 I was loading into a .41 magnum. I am deaf, and I heard the ripping sound it made.

Never saw a bullet compression fitting before. You might have a patentable idea on your hands if you can find a use for it.

I was thinking more along the lines of Asian architecture but your way may work as well . :D

Got a lot of chuckles reading this thread, good to know i'm not the only one who makes minor goofs ! We need more light hearted jest threads like this one !

I had the same thing happen with plain vanilla .45 ACP. I had been loading Berry's 230-grain round-nose, plated bullets for years with no problems. Then I decided to try their 185-grain, plated round-nose hollow-base bullet. I guess the new bullet is actually a half a thousandth or so fatter, because in short order I destroyed about four cases before I smartened up and increased the flare just a smidge.

BTDT! And I'll bet many of the members have too...

One thing about coming to a good threadlike late this all the good "quips" have been posted (I liked the "...Lee FCD" post)

Well my first 243 loads I hand pulled the bullets out with my fingers lol perhaps I was a little off with the crimping:-)

I also flared a couple of rounds of casull that looked like they could give birth to twins any moment
