No more model 66???

Well a flat surface is weaker than a curved one. With the J-frame having a full forcing cone it could be strong enough even though it is thinner.

What I was attempting to say was that if S&W can make it work in "J" they should'nt have a problem making it work in a "K", as in "K" is larger than "J",

Yes, but if you will compare the forcing cones of your .357 J-frames to those of your .357 K-frames, you will note that there is no flat spot on the bottom of the J-frames. The differences are a matter of frame geometry.

Myself I prefer the 66 over the 686 any day my 66s they go shooting and my 686 stays at home.Like the 66 so much I have two with 4" barrels I have never found a 66 in a shorter barrel but if I do I 'll grab it for sure. All the 66 is a model 19 in SS.Now that I think of it I have a 19 in a short barrel 2 1/2??? I don't like a heavy barrel on a revolver and the 686 with the full lug barrel seems heavy to me but my Ruger GP 100 has same type barrel and I love the gun makes me wonder???? :)

I had an opportunity to speak with S&W last week, asking them if the M65-8LS is also being discontinued, as they still show it on their site. He said "No, thats a one of our biggest sellers". (M65-8LS has a 3" two-peice barrel). He further said the forcing cone issue on the previous K-frame .357's has been addressed/corrected in this model- it has the same, full cone as the L frame models.
