SAXD9, just exactly what do you mean, Yankees have no moral's or professionalism?I guess all the cops being investigated in N.O. for theft were Yankee's, I guess BILL BUBBA CLINTON was a Yankee!!!!! I see Robert Byrd as a fine honest moral man also. Your statement is plain IGNORANT! I'd be willing to bet you've got a picture of Archie Bunker tacked up on the outhouse wall! Anyone who thinks like that should not be in law enforcement as it shows a very bias personnality, I'll be sure to avoid North carolina, because according to your theory all Yankees are losers so I must assume all in N.C. think like you!

You need to go back and read again before you attack me sir. I NEVER said anything about morals OR professionalism. I NEVER said southern cops are good and northern cops are bad. Nothing of the sort. I simply gave an example of an argument that occurred on another board that demonstrates the differences between Northern and Southern LE agencies.

LMAO, I hate the Yankess and like the Braves!!!!! I have been in the military for over 20 years now retired and have been in about every part of this country, and they are not 2 different animals, I have found that there are 2 types of cops for the most part, those who really care and believe in the law and those who are cops because they want the power and authority and the law doesn't apply to them. I also have been stationed in the south and sadly have seen prejudice toward yankees first hand, and I have seen prejudice toward southerners in the north. As an officer in the Air Force I had to counsel more than one person due to remarks that were pure bigotry and didn't tolerate it regardless of race, geographical background, religion or personnal beliefs. This happened with just about everyone regardless of Black, white, north, south, religion. Sometimes we are prejudice without even realizing it.
I worked for 2 small PD's and have found that usually if the superiors are honest and professional so is the rest of the dept, if the superiors are losers it causes a trickle down effect and no one with integrity wants anything to do with that particular force. To say that Yankee cops and Southern cops are 2 different animals and the way you describe it ( Yankees wont turn in a bad cop EVER ) as the southern cops do not tolerate corruption and Yankee cops do is insulting. This says if you are a Yankee cop you are immoral, if you are a southern cop you aren't. My father was a cop and my uncle a chief and they did not tolerate rogue cops, my father went to L.A. in the 60's and quit that force due to the problem cops that weren't being investigated. I also am baffled about if a fellow cop is cheating on his wife its a blind eye but not if he's speeding or something else, if the A_HOLE is cheating on his wife the person he is supposed to love and respect the most what the h#ll is he going to do to someone he doesn't love and respect and doing that to his family shows a lack of charactor second to none! There's the last person who should be trusted with power and authority and I wouldn't want him covering my a$$!
I just saw in the news where a N.H. state trooper arrested a local chief for DWI, I guess he must have been a transplanted southerner because REAL Yankees wouldn't do that. We also have a small dept ( 5 man ) that was corrupt from the chief down, well it was another YANKEE cop that reported these infractions to the state attourney generals office. Your statement lumps EVERONE in the same catagory, its southerners verses Yankees and the southerners are the good guys, perhaps you should read your own words. Giving you the benifit of the dought maybe your choice of words and the text you put them in weren't what you meant, but they sure came across not only to me but others I forwarded the post too as inflammatory. The term Good Ole Boys isnt a yankee one either and I have seen the Good Ole boy network in action with both Northern cops and Southern cops, its the individuals integrity and there are good and bad north, south, east and west!

You know, before I hit the 'post' button I always read, and re-read what I have written. My comprehension level must've been down when I made my first post. I didn't mean to make it sound like all Northern agancies are corrupt. Corruption is probably pretty equal on both sides. It was a (failed) attempt to show differences which I believe exist geographically between Northern and Southern agencies. The differences probably have more to do with union vs. non-union LE agencies than anything else, based on the discussions I've had with other cops on LE websites.
As for Yankee bashing, I wouldn't really mess with anyone because of their unfortunate place of birth.

The only Yankees I pick on are good friends of mine. And believe me, they don't let me forget that I'm a redneck.

Another bad example, although I have worked with some very good officers that didn't have the highest moral standards (OFF DUTY). Personally, I'd rather take a bullet than cheat on my wife. I'm just saying, I stay out of my co-workers personal business, unless it is a violation of the law that we are here to enforce. A real cop doesn't put his brother in that position of having to police him.
Changing the subject, sort of,
What's you opinion of the image of LE on TV. You can almost always count on TV/movie cops fitting into stereotypes. Hollywierd likes to show LAPD, NYPD, etc as these huge endless budget super agencies with well trained people. And for the south they make us all out to be backwoods, low budget, under educated, make up our own rules as we go type places.
Oh, and thanks for your service to our country. I don't think our military personnel get anywhere near the respect they deserve.
