NJ: Get an armored truck job just to get a NJ CCW?

It probably doesn't work that way.

I drove for an armored truck company in Michigan before it was a Shall Issue state and when I received my permit it was restricted to: "while on duty and in uniform".

problem is you might only be able to use the permit for work only...it might be restricted for on duty/work only...

Instead of an armored car job, I'd look at a LEO job (since you can't just move to Pennsylvania, which is the easiest solution.) That or a courier for a jewelry store or such.

I have a resume in with a company in NJ and i'm dreading the possibility that I might have to take the job.

$10.50 an hour to drive millions of dollars around in a truck that says "Kill The Driver and the Money Is Yours!" on it all day? No thank you. Only the dumbest police academy rejects would possibly sign up to drive an armored car.

lol... I'm not saying make a career out of it! I'm saying take the job, drive for a month or two until you get your CCW, then bail. I already have a career in IT.

Down here in Calif. my brother runs about $5K in cash to the bank for his business - he got denied a CCW. but NJ may be differnet.

In this area, your job would give you some legal rights to be armed on the job without a permit but you would not be given a permit just because of your job.

The job description you provided doesn't say that you will get an NJ permit, it just says you must have one or be able to obtain one. That might imply that you are going to get a permit/need a permit for the job, or it might just mean that if you know you can't pass the NJ permit requirements you need not apply.

There is a difference between a CCW permit and Act 235 training (to carry a firearm, while on the job) and generally each doesn't replace one another.

The last I knew (and I live in NJ), CCWs are issued only by appointed Superior Court judges and the applicant must show " good cause". The only shooter I knew who had one got it because the judge was his cousin and they grew up together.

Why not just find a good lawyer and challenge the "rules"?

You'll be a hero if you win, then again, you'll be hated if you lose. Either way, your be some sort of "famous" when its done.

Wheres the NRA on this anyway? I thought they were the big "gun rights" organization .

Oh well, the USA is right across the river here in PA and its shall issue. My last renewal took less than a week. I'll bet you dont get a pistol card even close to that, eh? Oh, we dont need them either, we can buy anything we like, when we like. NFA too. Why are you staying there again? Dont try and tell me its the "beaches". :)

Last time I checked there wasn't a large IT/Network presence in PA :p I'll probably live here for a number of years and bank on a high value house... then sell, take the cash, and run to a low cost of living state.
