NGD/Range Report: GP100 Match Champion

Sorry, no offense intended. I thought it was a target gun. But, like Independent George said; if you get proficient at longer ranges through regular practice, then when you get a shorter range shot, it's so much easier and faster to pull off a good one. Like if you regularly shoot off-hand, then anytime you get the least bit of support, it's a gimme shot, and a quick one at that. It amazes me that some people do most of their shooting from well supported positions, like a bench or whatever. My view is that unless the shooter is sighting in, or evaluating ammo for accuracy, the bench should be shunned, so that the shooter can actually develop real shooting skills. Whatever,......... How 'bout a picture of that revolver? I'm not familiar with it.

Some doofus is gonna say it so might as well be me - your muzzle in that second pic is pointed right at me!  ;)

WOW.

The one and only thing I don't like about the Match Champion is the pointlessly contoured cylinder. I think it actually looks worse than the standard model, other than that, it's a 100% good looking gun!

MrBorland,

Accuracy is the decisive factor in defensive scenarios (speed, surprise, and others follow very close behind). Sure, it's a stationary target in a sterile environment, but this is day one with my newest defensive gun. I am extremely clear on what I'm working on, friend.

JSMidd - My post wasn't meant as a criticism or to derail your post.

I'm a huge advocate of marksmanship and the fundamentals, and have many posts here to that effect. But, as you agreed, there are additional skills that are important and enjoyable. Since you clearly indicated this is your SD gun, it'd be worth working on them. If you're doing so, or plan to, great.

Enjoy your MC. You're off to a good start.

The grips on the GP series just look wrong to me if they're not lett grips. The wooden Hogue grips just jutt out to far.

But aside from that, the Match Champion is a nice looking gun!
