I have to apologize, I didn't think about the fact that the sights that are on my Model 83 are aftermarket, I bought them a few years ago from Gun Parts Corp. My Gunsmith fitted them to my gun, to fix the exact issue we are talking about. I used to do some long range shooting which is why I got this gun. The kit I bought included a front and rear sight. It has beel so long I forgot what the sights were originally supposed to go on. The wedge you talked about making would work as well. I think no matter what you do, you may want a taller front sight anyways. Good luck with that, sounds like a fun job to me.
My buddy did not have to change the sights on his .454 SRH to shoot and adjust for the .45 ACP, thankfully. That having been said, I have seen some different front sights and rear sights for the Super Redhawk. Well I hope that answers your questions. Have a great one.
