NewTaurus View .38 snub

What's the opinions on the new for 2014 Taurus View snub with the one inch barrel & nine ounce weight?

It looks ugly to me, but that's just me. The Taurus "mini" frame is really small, and the proportions seem pretty odd to me. The one inch barrel and fixed sights are going to make it really hard to shoot. Ejection is going to be tough with such a short ejector rod. 9 ounces is really light and will be snappy with +P ammo. Regular .38 ammo in a steel j-frame isn't SUPER comfortable for me to shoot, so I don't think I'd like shooting this one.

However, the 380 revolver looks interesting. It's steel, so slightly heavier. The .380 cartridge is way shorter than .38 special, so the problems with ejection won't be as bad. The recoil will probably be easier to handle.

The real point I see in the 380 caliber is the combination of ease of concealment and higher capacity (more than five shots). I see no practical point to a five shot 380 revolver. I guess it is okay from a novelty standpoint. From the more practical standpoint I would have to go with either a five shot 38Sp revolver or a seven shot 380 semiauto. I guess it looks okay, maybe, but I don't have the gun money for novelties. $.02.

The 941 is a 8 shot mag. Doesn't look like they are going to make the 94/941 anymore.
I'm not very knowledgeable of revolvers and I'm actualy serious in asking why the 1" barrel?? At that point what does it do? Why not just make the cylinder a bit longer and have no barrel past the case?. Wouldn't that be better to have a bit more before the cylinder lockup and get better pressure?

Look at the Taurus catalog PDF and open it to find the gun. Let's see if its not a vapor gun.

Ah, indeed. I was looking in the "What's New?" link.

So the big deal is a lexan sideplate? Uhhhh. Interesting idea, but how long will that stay nice and transparent?

The tiny thin grip will would make it punishing to shoot. Extraction of empties, I expect, will would be unreliable due to the very short ejector rod.

If it's made, it won't be made long.

That's exactly what they said about the Judge, it's a gimmick.

Once that gimmick took off it didn't take Smith long to jump on the wagon, did it?

The view might not interest me, but I'm willing to at least give it a chance.

This is the only real gun that is sized in-between a NAA Mini and a J Frame. I hardly think it is a gimmick. Pretty innovative if you ask me. This is a small, small 38.

Say what you will about Taurus, but they push the envelope and actually try to come up with new ideas. This is more than cam be said about a lot of other companies

I'm thinking it would hurt to shoot it.

Like in general? What about with Buffalo Bore (Low recoil, low flash, short barrel) That ammo is expensive, but might work in this gun...

As for, "hurt to shoot." I bet it will with 158 gr +p magtech!! OMG LOL, it will tear your wrist right off
