Newbie looking to make a 1st purchase...

Well(Glock), I have no real(Glock) preference on hanguns(Glock), but I think (Glock) that these are both (Glock) fine choices(Glock).

BTW, have you ever considered a Glock??

If you're happy with the operation of the Elite, why spend the extra on the SIG? You could get a lot of ammo (and practice) with that $80-$100.

My personal choice would be the Elite. It accepts standard Beretta 15-rounders, which are cheaper than SIG pre-bans. That said, I like SIGs just as much.

Get the Sig. You can always have it refinished when it wears thin. Or not.
For CCW, you may consider the P225.

Go with the SIG. I own both Beretta and SIG. While both are fine weapons and haven't failed me to date, the SIG is better put together and feels better. As far CCW, the SIG would be easier to conceal. One thing I don't like on the Beretta is the long creepy trigger pull.

Why don't you get both? Then sell the one that you don't want.

The best weapon for self defense is the one you have when the need arises!

You have tried both. You say the Beretta has a smooth action. You seem to know what you are doing. I own a 92FS. I bought it over the Sig because:
1. The barrel is 0.52 inches longer giving more velocity.
2. Open slide allows direct chamber loading.
3. I wanted to be able to have a loaded chamber with a safety on.
4. I assume more parts will be around since it is the standard military pistol.
5. I couldn't find Sig 226 Factory Pre-Ban magazines when I bought the gun. I can find them now, but they are more expensive than 92FS mags.
6. I'll admit it- Mel Gibson and Bruce Willis.

None of these reasons may be important to you. They are both 1st rate pistols.

I own both...to be honest the Beretta feels damn good in my hands, the Sig rides a bit high. That said they both shoot exceptionally well. I have been more "satisfied" with the Sig however, having had minor problems with the 92. Keep in mind however that Sig factory preban mags are much harder to come by. The Sig is more concealable, the Beretta is not cocealable unless you are huge or like shoulder rigs.
Buy one and the other later. Then buy a P7M8 :)
Glocks are fine but don't inspire much pride in craftsmanship IMO and their triggers go "sproink". But for $400 in I am thinkin' about it...

I'm equally satisfied with my Beretta and my SIG. But since a choice has to be made, I'd probably get the SIG now--and the Beretta later. IOW, the best choice is to get both. :)

Between Beretta and Sig, get the Sig. If you expand your choices, I highly recommend a Glock 26 or 27. The best quality and easier to conceal.

Hello All,

I'm happy to say that I've narrowed my purchase down to 2 fine pistols:

The sig sauer p226

The Beretta 92 Elite I

I've fired both at the range, and both are fine pistols. But, here is the dilema.

The 226 brings all of Sigs engineering perfection. The drawbacks are the not so great finish sigs are known for as well as big hit in the wallet.

The Beretta Elite has a smooth action and costs less, but if I'm going to spend that much on the elite...should I dole out the extra $80-$100 for a Sig.

Any input is greatly appreciated, especially from owners of the above-mentioned. Happy and safe shooting.
