new-to-me DAO SP101...

Well, I finally got to shoot it today. Put 100rds of 158gr .38spl and 20rds or 125gr .357 and was very pleased with both the way it handle the recoil and with accuracy. I also swapped the hammer spring out for a 10lb Wolff spring before I shot it to make sure I wasn't gonna get any light strikes (had the 12lb on standby) with it and I didn't. Also ordered a Side Guard Holsters "minimal snap" holster for it today. I'me not letting this one go!! :D

I have the Gun Digest Book of Ruger Handguns, and in it the author states that Ruger matches the trigger mechanism with individual revolvers (because of some required hand fitting). It shows a picture of the Ruger revolvers moving through assembly in the factory, and the trigger mechanism is always hanging on a hook right next to an individual revolver.

Thanks for the info.

I'm kind of disappointed though, I have wanted to get a 3" SP-101 and try that swap.

hoy,

It's an excellent gun!

Mine has Secret Service grips and a Wolf 12 lb spring (factory is 14 lbs.) I don't ever touch the return springs though.

Then with the gun totally apart, I use microlub to smooth out the insides.

Makes an excellent DA gun!
