New S&W on the block

I keep lookin' at the picture of you gun and have to ask, is the cylinder polished brighter than the rest of the gun?

As I look it seems the gun is sort of matt finished with the cylinder brighter. Or is it just the camera angle/lighting?

Many years ago a friend of mine had an AMT Hardballer with contrasting matt/polished surfaces, sort of grew on me.

Hey Mike,,,

Three rounds for the PPC shooters under the sky,
Seven for the IPSC men in their halls of stone,
Nine for nasty bandits doomed to die,

and so forth and so on...

That's actually quite good,,, :)
Will you share what you are smoking? :)

P.S. I once saw a S&W Model 36 with engraving on the back strap,,,
It read: Five Every Time.

In all seriousness,,,

When I was putting together the Harem,,,
I tried to find a S&W L-Frame with a half-lug barrel,,,
I ended up getting a full lug 686 but I did consider one of those guns.

We all know that tapered lug was a monetary (cheaper to manufacture) decision,,,
But it does give a full lug look while retaining the balance of a half-lug.

Not my cup of tea,,,
But I don't hate then either.

I would like to make a barbecue holster for one of them puppies.

I have grown to like the tapered lug, but it was a semi-acquired taste.

I found the tapered lug to give the 5" a really nice balance in the hand, and it doesn't sacrifice anything in the "recoil absorption" and "time to reacquire the target" categories when shooting full-house magnum loads. (LOL 38sp is practically a non-event in this gun)

Some love it, some hate it. I fall into the love it category. I figure most would fall into the love it category once they have shot it. The only other revolver that comes close is my well broken in 6" 19-4 with the silky trigger.

At the private range where I shoot, we have a tradition of everybody being welcome to shoot everybody else's toys. I receive more requests for bringing out the 627 performance center than just about anything else in my collection.

You are gonna love it.

PS - that tradition of shooting other people's toys is why my bank account is not what it should be - i fall in love waaaayyyy too often

Good for you and your club.

If it weren't for people like you folk,,,
I never would have been able to make a good decision on my Wonder-Nine.

Many many people allowed me to shoot a magazine through their pistols,,,
This allowed me to try out a boat load of guns to make my decision.

My S&W Model 629 was the gun on my table most people wanted to try.
