Arc Angel:

Thanks for the tip on Del Fatti. Been to that store alot. I'll check it out again. On the 686, I've wanted one of those for a while, simply because they have the right mix of strength and reliability in a good carry gun. This 19 just 'popped up', though, and it was in such great shape for the price...well, I think we all know what can happen in our favorite gun store.

I agree that a full size 2" steel gun is a better carry choice, for me too, than one of the lighter weight smaller guns. I had a nice M36 that I traded out of a while back. .38 spl only, except for 'occasional' +p carry. I think I'd rather have the 19 or a 686. The really lightweight guns I'll pass on. But to each his (or her) own.

Spend a little time (and I do mean a little) out in the Florida swamp with that blued 19
Gators, snakes, skeeters, chiggers, bugs and whatnot. I would think rust would be waayy down on the list. :p

"Corrosion. I spent years in the tropics with blued guns. Used RIG inside and out. No corrosion allowed. An ignored stainless gun can look good on the outside and rot on the inside."

Please tell me more about this RIG stuff.

Sneevil, you forgot the wild pigs. Actually my prefered carry gun out in the swamp here is the Glock 27. Its light, easy to conceal, pretty much impervious to rust and easy and quick to detail strip. Plus there is no real emotional attachment like with the S&W revolvers. It does what needs to be done without any muss or fuss.

Second choice would be a 66 or 65 with 158 JSP magnums. For me the 19 would be a house gun or maybe an around town carry gun. It would be different if they were still making them but they're not.
