New Ruger GP100-22

Ruger has shown a new GP100, chambered in 22 Long Rifle, 6" half lug barrel, 10 shot cylinder, on their TV show "Ruger Inside & Out". It appears to use the standard GP100 grip(the prototype looks to have the COMPACT grip installed)and the standard replaceable front sight. I have been emailing Ruger for several years about making this exact revolver, so I am very excited it is coming. I have a S&W 617 in a 4" and have wanted a 6", but havent been able to find one, so I will be buying the Ruger instead. Im very happy that Ruger seems to be in touch with what the shooting public wants...

Well, after their ho-hum last couple announcements, Now I'm excited!!!:D
But to really trip my trigger, Ruger, please bring a 4" model out soon!!!

5-inch barrel, older compact grips, fiber-optic front sight.

Especially without the massive full lug, I've got to say I like it a lot. I would loathe a fibre-optic fron sight, that's for sure.

5-inch, compact grips, fiber-optic front is the production version within the next couple months, hopefully sooner.
I should have made it clear I wasn't expressing a preference, but describing what the gun is.

I like very much!!!! Now about that 45 colt snub redhawk like the 44 mag they have out.........

Or go for broke...... I want a gp200 offer it in 5 shot 41 / 44 / 45 or 7 shot 357.

Or an 8 shot 357 redhawk? Crazy me

A guy can dream right?

I wouldn't have bought the SP101 if I knew this was coming out.

Pretty sure that's not the standard easily replaced front sight that comes on most GP100s. Wish they had stuck with that instead of going to a dovetailed sight.

Interesting that they only made it a 10 shot. Seems like they could have squeezed 12 in with a little work.

They HAVE to make this available in a combo package that comes with a .22Mag cylinder!!!

10 shots seems enough. So what's the street price on a .357 GP-100? $550? I figure this will be about the same. It should last a long long time shooting .22lr.

I have two GP-100 6" already, one with the full under lug and one that looks identical to that one. Love them both.

This would be a cool addition but I would sure have to look a little closer when picking one out of the safe early in the morning to head to the woods. Sure would ruin a morning walk to have the .22 version and a pocket full of .357s. ;)

It will be on the wish list now for sure though.

I wonder if it has to do with some states having a 10-round limit, like here in CT (maybe since corporate headquarters is in state?)

Sure looks like a nice gun though!

I woulda preferred it in a four-inch version instead of a five-incher, just for commonality of leather.

A holster for a five-inch GP is not going to be easy to find.

I know of no states that limit revolver capacities in any way
Those magazine limits are for semi-autos
