New holster disappointment

Bummer. Looks like even if you stretched the strap it would push on the hammer which is worse. Try to send it back where you bought it - or throw it in the "Big Box of Holsters that Didn't Work". Well, mine is a big box anyway....

Dwight raises an excellent point:

It may not be the length of the thumb-snap.

It may be the dept the gun is getting into the holster.

Leather stretches. Not just the snap, but the body of the holster and its seams, as well.

Give the leather some wear. Shove the gun into it good and deep.

Have you tried cocking the hammer and then putting the strap across the back of the slide, under the hammer?

My new Bianchi Shadow II holster came in today for my 1911. I love the look, fit and finish. But I can't use the thumb break strap with it cocked and locked. I wanted a thumb break holster for on the bike.

Have you tried cocking the hammer and then putting the strap across the back of the slide, under the hammer?

I have a Galco FLETCH holster for my 1911 and the thumb strap works exactly like the post above says. In other words, the Fletch holster is made to carry a 1911 in cocked and locked mode.

If your Bianchi won't work that way, return it.

I had to send my Bianchi Cyclone back. It was was a 6" S&W M19. The strap was a good 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch too short. Very disappointed as it was a nice holster. I was having problems getting holsters to fit my SP101 3" and the M19, so just went ahead and ordered 2 Simply Rugged.
