New Guns

Just curious, I don't remember this being ask before but I could be wrong. In a years time how many new or used guns do you intend to or will you buy ? So far to date I have purchased 3 used and 2 new since January. I guess I must be working the government 1 a month program. With the purchase of my last one I have no further intentions,of course unless something of a terrific, must have deal
comes along. But then I guess I could say they were all must haves.

I dont put New or Used into seperate catagories... I tend to catalog all of them under one subject heading, "gunz".
It is my desire to buy as many gunz as I can.
Recent downturns in the market have lowered my future gunz purchases by 99%.
At the close of market in Friday evening - all I can afford is a single cylinder for a North American Arms Mini Revolver...

The upside is - if you hold it real close to your face - it kinda looks like a .454 Casul cylinder...

I seldom have a specific plan as to the guns or number of guns planned for any given year. This year, however, I had planned two and probably three new Smith & Wessons. The 945, the Schofield and perhaps the new 2.5" 629. I guess now Smith can keep those since they are all new guns and the chances of seeing a used one (that S&W will not make money from it's sale) are almost nil. I'll concentrate this year on more single actions and older Smiths. Of course, as you said, there will always be those that just sort of follow a person home.

Bought 2 so far this year. An EAA Witness in 9mm for my wife to shoot IPSC & a Para LDA in .40 Liberty for me to shoot in the new Production Division. Probably won't pick anything else up this year since my wife is having our first child in Sept. I'm trying to explain to her how an RL550 would make the perfect baby shower gift

I usually have a general idea of the next couple of guns I want to buy, but the lineup changes occasionally, and sometimes I find opportunistic purchases that I can't pass up. For instance, I'd been wanting a Steyr M40 since last fall, and in February I went to a gun show planning to buy one. But I was sidetracked by the new Uberti small-frame .38 -- a gun I hadn't even known existed -- and got it instead. I do have the Steyr now, however (and both it and the Uberti are quite nice.)

I had been hoping to acquire two new S&Ws this year: A 610 and a 317. Those plans are now scrapped, although I do still want a good used K-frame .38 or .357. I'm also looking for a good deal on a left-handed .308 rifle and a Rem 1100 shotgun in either 12 or 20 gauge.

In fact, however, I'll probably see something totally unexpected at the next show and buy it instead.

The only gun I really had plans on buying was the new S&W Schofield, honest. But there seems to be that one that always catches your eye and as Gunslinger says "follows you home"

I wish I could only get the wife to understand that

There are several guns that are on my wish list and I do have a new Kimber Pro CDP on order (I wish it would get here already

).
However, I try to keep an open mind and look for good deals on used guns when I go into the gun store. For example, about two weeks ago, I found a used Browning A-5 Sweet Sixteen for a good price. It was not on my list, but I bought it anyway. I like to buy used because I am a shooter, not a collector, so the guns I buy are going to get used. Plus I don't take that big depreciation hit if I decide to trade it back in. Occasionally I may buy 2 or 3 guns in one month, but most of the time I buy one gun every 3 or 4 months. I hope to one day get my average up to one a month in compliance with my governments wishes.

I'm just getting started, so since January, I've bought 3 (I think that was all in a month's time...). But April has been kind of a dry month, I may have to buy 2 in May if I want to stick to the "one a month" requirement
smile.gif
(unless you count the Dillon...). As far as intentions, here in KS, firearms purchases are still pretty simple (no real limits, no permits, no waiting periods) so I plan to get whatever I can afford when I find them used, and probably ordering a few new ones if I can(Beretta 92 and Springfield Loaded come to mind...). What? I hear a voice whispering "second job! second job!"

The only gun I have plans to buy in the semi-immediate future is a custom flintlock rifle, or a Ruger Bisley Vaquero in .45 Colt, or a Ruger Single Six in .32 Magnum.... But, believe it or not, the decision is easier than it looks; I don't have the money for ANY of them!!

I'm still waiting to see Dan Wesson's Pointman 1911, before making any decisions on new purchases.

Used S&W and Colt revolvers are always on my list...

A nice 1911 of some kind, haven't decided which yet. Thats next. (Graduation Present) It was going to be a Smith 4513 TSW, but they can go to hell now.

Then I want a Fal. Arizona Response Systems is looking good.

All of the dept.s that I'm applying for issue glocks in various calibers, once I get hired by somebody then I will buy the matching mini-glock in the same caliber.

I wanted a Steyr M, until I got to actually handle one, and found out that my hand is way to big. Darn finger grooves, and weird backstrap thingy.

Farther down the list I want a Vepr, a Bushmaster Bullpup, and some sort of really cool HD shotgun. Oh, and a safe to put them in.

I'm not picky.

I don't make plans on how many guns I'm going to buy. If I see something I like, I buy it. So far this year, I bought a new AR, H&K Tactical, Les Baer 1911, Kimber Ultra Elite, Ed Brown .38 Super built on a Les Baer slide and frame, and a Remington 700 PSS.

I do want to buy another commander size 1911. I'm not sure which yet. I'm leaning towards letting Steve Clark build it off a Caspian slide and frame.

While I do have a pretty long "Wish" list, the truth is that I rarely plan a firearms purchase. Its a combination of being in the right place at the right time along with being lucky enough to have some extra money. It short, dumb luck.

Well,

The Income Reduction Service hit me in an unexpected manner so it will have to wait for a month or so(don't you just LOVE funding the Feds

) But as soon as I heal up.....

Another Kimber Pro Carry, a Model 66 and a model 629 both with short barrels before you can't get them ( my dealer already has them), I'd REALLY like to look at a Styer Scout rifle and ammo, LOTS AND LOTS of ammo.

Let's see so far this year I have bought around 20 or so.
(2) Browning Hi-Powers
(3) FEG Hi-Power Clones
(1) Kahr Mk9
(1) S&W 945 full size
(1) S&W 945 compact
Plus all the S&W's my dealer had in stock. Most of them were .357 revolvers along with a 4" 629 and a 6"629 power port. And I almost forgot the 337 TI 3" and the 625 Mountain Gun. Gotta get all my S&W's before they bite the big one.

I'm not sure whether it's intentional or not, but I started buying handguns a couple years ago and seem to have purchased a new one every 2 1/2 months since then. I'm not sure if it's the alignment of the earth and moon, the ebb and flow of commission checks, or the newness wearing off of the latest gun that causes me to go back in and put another one on lay-away, but whatever the reason, I buy about 5 a year...

Uhhhh, if you see my wife, tell her it's only one a year, okay?

Dame Fortune and Lady Luck have both smiled at me when it's come to modern handguns, these last few years.
Sooo... I'm looking toward the ever popular long guns, and the attractive and imposing C&R list...

Just the other day I picked up my IMI Baby Eagle. I'm not out of the shop with it and low and behold a Glock 27 caught my eye.

My handprints aren't even cold on the Eagle yet and something else has my attention. Don't own any Glocks yet.

But then on the other hand I've just recieved my new paper from SOG and they are running some good deals on P-38's and Lugers, this is where the C&R side kicks in.Ahhh.... which to buy, deicisions, deicisions.
