New gun buying dilemma

Hand Fit?

If she is looking for a pistol that fits her hand very well, I have a friend who looked for a pistol to feel good in her hand and she ended up with a Bersa Thunder. I have one and it is very reliable is my only comment about it.

The Sig P238/938 are nice guns as well, but I did not care for the ambi-safety. With smaller hands it would probably be less of an issue, but I like to have a firm grip when disengaging the safety. With them it was hard for me, as the safety hung up on the right side because of my grip. It's another popular choice, but I would have her try to disengage it multiple times to see if she has similar issues.

I'm sure it would work great for me if the gun was geared towards a righty. As a positive, even in 9mm it was a soft shooter.

My wife ended up going with a Glock 42 earlier this year. She is lacking in the strength department, but has no issues chambering a round. The Glock 43 was just getting released, but the 42 fit her hand better anyway so we went with that. I thought she would prefer a gun with a longer DA pull, but it was the complete opposite. To this day Glocks are the only gun she likes to shoot from our safe.

What to buy

If her hands hurt. Go back and the M&P Shield once more and warp the grips with some grip tape - world of difference. The Shield is a good pistol.

He also made the remark if he put on the range it would be destroyed in 5-6 months.
Probably true in some respects. I asked at one range with rentals and they said their rental guns can get 20,000 rounds a year. After 5,000 rounds some parts need to be replaced. By 10,000 probably quite a bit. The barrel, frame, slide, and major components should be ok though. Considering most ranges get $10+ an hour and most people don't shoot more than 100 rounds in an hour, they should still be making good money on that deal.
I've only spoken wit one or two places, but they do not put firearms on the range if they can't keep them on the shelf or they are poor quality that will not last. The Walther may be turning over quickly and they may not be able to order one for people who like them.
