New Gray Glocks Are Out

The new sniper gray Glocks hit the shelves this week. I stopped in by Glockmeister yesterday and picked up a new Gen4 G19.

I'm actually a fan of the different color Glocks. I have the FDE 17 as well.

I already under cut the trigger guard. Placed an order with GlockStore last night for a Double Diamond connector, Lightning Strike titanium striker block, smooth face G17 trigger, and Heinie Ledge QWIK sights to top it off.

I may end up getting a threaded barrel for it, too, but we'll see. I usually also add the Vicker's extended slide stop, but for some reason, this one actually works very well. It sticks out just enough to have a ledge for my thumb to catch on, so I'll forgo adding that right now.

Hitting the range today. We're actually having a company outing to the range and then lunch today.

I haven't heard of double Diamond disconnectors. Only Ghost, Scherer... anything unique about them?

I like different options, an additional color is always welcome. Everyone else is providing color options so why not? Now lets move into swappable grips, that would be a welcome addition. What type of grip mod are you doing to the trigger guard, just an undercut?

Whoa! Congrats on your new pistol.Love the new color! Any idea how long for migration to Indiana? :D

Ooh! I like it. Subtle coloring, but a nice chance. I really hated Glock's take on FDE... to me, it was offensively ugly. I like that there is another option out there now! I didn't even know they were doing a gray model.

This pretty much sums up Glock right here...Just sayin.

That aside, congrats on your new purchase. New guns are always cool. Good thing they don't shoot like they look! I better quit, I can't help myself. Enjoy your gun.

The Double Diamonds are NP3 plated and super smooth. Besides that, they are quite similar tot he Ghost 3.5 Ultimate. I have used Ghost in the past and have generally had good results. The owner has a bit of an attitude problem and that's why I am staying away from their stuff from now on. This is my first one, though I've seen very good things about them. I will definitely report back with my findings.

Yeah, just the undercut. The Gen4 grip without any back straps works fairly well for me otherwise. I go like the beavertail grip module as well, but it doesn't make enough of a difference for the thicker hump to me.

I do like the way the M&P and P30/VP9 do the grips though. I also think Sig really nailed it with the P320. I haven't even tried the other grip module sizes, but the medium is really, really good.

They should be available nation wide. They are on a bunch of different websites. Distributors may still be shipping to some locations though.

The birth date on mine is 6-25-15, so it's factory fresh.

"Double Diamond", "Lightning Strike". These must be the same folks that come up with the names for automotive paint colors.

Not sure what that means.

I don't know much about DD, but Lightning Strike makes sense as they specialize in light-weight titanium and aluminum parts. They make a titanium striker and striker safety block, as well as a billet aluminum trigger.

The striker safety block is one of my absolute requirements on all of my Glocks. It makes trigger take up extremely smooth, and also lighter.

It means I think the names are kinda silly and meant to sell you on the product, like any effective marketing. I have no idea what the color Liquid Silver means as opposed to regular Silver, but that's what my car supposedly is.

All I do to Glocks are sights, Ameriglo I Dots (straight 8 sights seem to go well with my astigmatism), and the Vicker's Tactical slide stop and mag release (with the latter being something I'm not sure is worth it). To me a Glock has a 5.5 lb. trigger with relatively little take up and a decent reset. Maybe if I was running one in competition I'd worry about the internals, but as I was discussing in another thread I think to an extent that modifying pistols to have the best triggers possible can be a weakness. Sometimes "handicapping" yourself with a stock trigger can be an advantage. I like to know that I can pick up a pistol stock and run it just fine if need be (or replace that pistol easily if need be). It's just a tool and I like to be able to go back and forth. That's just a personal philosophy.

For a pistol I see really only using out to 25 yds in a defensive situation (fast shooting) and a pistol with such simple internals that interact over such a short length of travel I wonder how much of a difference all these aftermarket internals really make. I came to that conclusion when I ran a recent production M&P next to my APEXed M&P and did basically just as well. I was in a habit of buying replacement parts for pistols before I even had the chance to shoot them first. I started thinking I was fooling myself with all this gear and should just get back to basics.

Anyway, it is a neat color and I wish you luck with it. :)

Congrats Uncle, but watch out, your HK's are gonna get jealous! Hahahahahaha

I'm with you concerning a simple undercut and basic Gen 4 grip w/o and backstrap additions. I've got a Compact Small grip/frame module on my P250, and it makes a world of difference for my small hands (pics of it are over in my comparison thread).

Now go shoot!

I saw a girl walking through Walmart today. She had a pink gripped M&P compact. Probably a 9MM. She was very young and petite, so at first I thought she was a little kid with a toy. Then I looked again at her and the gun and realized she was carrying the real thing.

She also had the cheapest POS looking universal nylon Uncle Mikes holster holding the gun. The strap that secured the gun was at least half and inch above the gun. You could see daylight through the gap.

I don't get coloring guns. Just a monumental waste of time. Guns aren't fashion statements. I get a camo one if you're fighting ISIS in the desert, but for a guy carrying a gun for protection they just look dopey.

Glad you got a new gun. That's always a good thing. Just not my cup of tea.

How else to tell which is yours or your wife's?

Those little label tape puncher/sqeeze gizmos aren't popular anymore. :D

Is the gray selling for $400. Homerboy did you call the police? I would have on the underage buyer. I am not racist and buy colored guns.

lol, does using gray polymer in the injection molding somehow take exponentially more time to cure than black polymer? Where does this 'monumental waste of time' come in?

You must drive a black ford, own a white home, with white walls, concrete floors, and a plain dirt yard. Mowing grass is a monumental waste of time. lol :D
