New Glock 23 Gen3

Also, I'm thinking about getting some Ameriglo sights....something with a fiber optic front or maybe a tritium front sight. Still undecided.

Was thinking Vickers Slide Stop, but really I don't have any issue with the current one, so....pass.

Also, need to try grip tape. Front and back strap are worthless for grip.

I thought the same thing about the slide stop. But, I don't competition shoot, so, not needed.
I was "about" to get the Ameriglo sights at first also. Then, I saw a guy at a gun range with the XS-BIG DOT sights. I started talking to him about them and he let me try a few mags through his Glock. I was sold on the XS-BD sights!
I couldn't justify spending the extra $20-$25 for the tritium rear, so, I bought the one with just the white stripe. And, EBAY had the best price, with FREE SHIPPING! ($84.95)

Thanks for the big dot idea. I had those and hated them. I was a 2-3" at 15 yd group shooter.....big dots made me a 5-6" 15 yd shooter.

BTW, another round of break in today!

This time 130 rounds down range, 100 with the suspect mags and not a hiccup...

Some more Glock plainness!

I think I might like this. Wish it had more grip in the cold. Grip tape?

1911

I feel the glocks feel more like the cap guns i played with as a child. Id say go with a 1911 or a s&w revolver. Just my opinion.

I have a new RUGER 1911 in the 9mm caliber and I like it A LOT! Being this is my first ever Glock (Gen 4 G17) I like it A LOT as well! In my 50 something years I figured I could stop hating them long enough to at least own 1. But, I am currently looking for an LEO trade in G23.

Welcome VAhunter92. I can see why you might say that given the typical Glock "sproing" noises and feeling! Still, not a bad gun.

Still would rather have my Dan Wesson!

Another FTF.....same mag...looking like the mag. Springs feel weak on both of these. Might call Glock for help.

I just picked one up for 399.00 from palmetto state armory. brand new, sold as overrun model. 23 gen 3. only disappointment , had little bit of rust underneath the slide. Cleaned up nicely with a little bit of clp. no complaints. Gun probably sat for awhile

I have never been a glock fan....until this past summer. I actually was anti-Glock.

However, I was looking for a potential pocket carry .40 and went through some southern, left handed, American Redneck logic and talked myself into a G 27.....the price also had something to do with the decision. I have two FNH .40s and like .357 Sig in them. My normal pocket carry is a Sig P938 and this time of year with heavier clothing I carry the FNH 40s or a FNH 45.

I doubt seriously that I will get another Glock because I am drawn to hammer fired, ambidextrous, external safety pistols. BUT, I do like this Glock. It shoots pretty good, even with me pulling the trigger. And it fits ok in most of my pants pockets.

Have a .357 Sig barrel on the way and a good supply of ammo in that caliber and .40 S&W.

For me, I will keep a space in the safe for that Glock as it and the other handguns/long guns are tools.

A little fun with grip tape:

Did the front anf back strap along with the thumb rest. Wanted to keep the sides pretty slick for ccw.

Also got a Blade-Tech Eclipse to try out. I think i like it. I'll try straight drop first snd then likely move to fbi. Straight felt pretty good though initially.

I love my G19, and I've been thinking about a G23. After the FBI ammo test though I think I may just stick to 9mm with good JHPs.

Tried to get a replacement mag from Glock. They said send it in.

I'm thinking I'll just buy mag springs and be ready to go this this week. Why waste the time and cost to send a mag in to have them put a spring in it?

Forgot to mention, I picked up the Glock extended release and that fix my mag release issues.

Well, tested it out with new mag springs. FTF's are gone. Now on to bigger and better things.

Rumor is that a stock Glock has a 5.5lb trigger break...hmmm mine is 7 lbs with a lumpy 3 lb take up . OK, but not great. Still, it is safe and the break is pretty clean.

So, I bought a ghost plate and did a $0.25 trigger job. Well, with que tips, I got nothing....looked smoother, felt smoother to the touch, but nothing. So, I took out stones to clean off some burrs and got something. Something turned into something real when I cleaned up the tool marks on the striker, increased the contact patch between the cruciform and the striker....Once it contacted along the full width, I increased the vertical slightly. This is nerve racking and I don't really recommend, unless this is 2nd nature to you. After that I hit all touch points with a felt wheel and flitz. Now that was smooth!

End result is about 2.5 lbs take up with FP Block still feeling a bit lumpy and a 5 ld pretty crisp break. It can't be crisp because the pull, pulls the striker down before releasing. This is looseness in the stock parts.....I'm guessing they all have some vertical movement.

So, the weight is fine and the pull is ok on stock parts...I can't see messing with it more than dry firing and shooting to wear the parts together.

Next, need to test fire! Can't do trigger work without test fire!!!

Shot 50 rounds after trigger work on stock parts....:D Very satisfied!

The only replaced part is changing to a smooth Glock trigger. I might sand the dingus until it is smooth with the trigger face...

I don't have anything aganist Glock.I have a G17 & G42,that's enough Glocks for me now. I may someday buy the Gen 4 G41 to add next to my 1911's .45's in the safe.
