Ever hear of the Model 70 Winchester

I'll take ugly all day long and twice on Sunday.

You know I mean no offense, Jim. But, my Rugers and Marlin XL7 will do the same thing, all day long. Savage rifles have weird ergonomics, on top of the ugliness. (I'm not arguing with accuracy claims.)

They work for many shooters, but not everyone.

Like my Colt AR-15, I bought the Weatherby Vanguard mostly for the brand name appeal, but with the low (no?) maintenance synthetic stock, smooth bolt action, good-looking profile, and the one-inch circle accuracy at 100 yds., there's no regrets with that choice.

Mostly I'm a Ruger and Sako guy, though I've always liked Remingtons. Beyond that, there is no reason to own an inaccurate rifle and no reason to own an ugly one - no matter how it shoots. It's still ugly. But...like kraigwy says, let's not forget Winchester. I was cruising the sale rack at a nearby LGS, and found a fancy grade Winchester Model 70. I gotta tell you, that gun was beautiful. Yes, it was expensive, but I haven't seen anything that pretty in years. My beloved Sako isn't as pretty as that Winchester was. So don't discount Winchester.

Winchester??

Lots of votes for the Winchester?? Ok, I guess I will have to take a look before the final decision is made.
Who makes them now, FN?

Winchester model 70, pre 64' would be my vote. That or a Browning safari grade, Belgium made (watch out for salt water wood though). Older Kimber 84's are nice too.
