Bob, no disappointment here. I've got the Colt, but also Cimarron P. They're all good. I love my "P" (also a .44 Sp!). Mine is a "regular" (not factory tuned) model - I had tuned instead by one of the country"s finsest Coltsmiths, having the luxury of having him local..so net result I'm sure similar to an Evil Roy or Smoke Wagon, functionally and cost-wise, with an added special touch/knowing the guy personally. Ya done good!
I view all of these alternatives as being good--none really "better" (overall) than another...if you consider price difference with each making its own unique contribution. Of course you expect a USFA or Colt to be "better" for their price "delta," but quality isn't entirely (certainly not 1:1) commensurate with those $ diferences. The Ubertis (and Piettas) represent outstanding examples and values in my book. Then there"s Ruger, also an excellent choice in the middle. Admitting there's also the Uberti-Beretta Stampede, it's not my choice if you want to carry a full six up. Instead I choose Ruger as a rugged well made gun for tht -- very reminiscent of the Colt genre, but not having that special snick snick feel. My several Rugers are my "working" guns, but very special in their own right and made even moreso with nice grips. A Ruger is the one I take camping or tromping, but that's "because I can." I wouldn't hesitate to take any of the others as well, perhaps excepting my as-new Colt (though not normally being a safe-queen type, I shouldn't worry that either).
Can't beat any of them IMHO. They all have their own "thing" to offer. But..my antiqued (over here) Cimarron "P" is the one I have out "admiring" and handling more than any other gun I own.
