just got done looking at a brand new Tikka in 223, just dont care much for the composite stock, would I be a fool or ruin the accuracy if I were to say put a boyds thumbhole stock on it? It has a hell of a nice trigger and its light but the stock just doesnt grab me, price new 569.00..blued, stainless could be had for 659.00
When the holes are touching or are in the same hole at 100 yards, you might not care much about the stock; unless it just doesn't fit you. If it did bother you, I wouldn't consider changing it until you have put a fair number of rounds down range, then see what you think.
I have a .223 T3 with a 1-10 twist blued. I also have a T3 30-06 SS. I also have a .223 Remington 1-12 Varmint barrel with a little work and a Jewell trigger that regularly gets .2-.3" groups.
The T3 superlite comes with a 1-8 barrel for .223 and they claim 5.8 lbs. According to their website all .223s come with 1-8 now. Their are still some 1-10s out there; check their site for their info, and read the actual barrel (it will have a single number for the twist, eg 8 or 10).
I considered the superlite, but wanted a 1-10 because I like shooting 40-60 grainers in .223; anything heavier and I go up in cartridge/rifle;
, so far.
I recently picked up my .223 T3, after loving my 30-06 this moose season, and just shot it again today. Holes touching at 100 yards; definitely sub-MOA. Shooting off of a leadsled to fine tune my scope.
I like my heavy barreled Remington with a 1 lbs Jewell trigger better, but it is a boat anchor compared to the T3. And only having my new .223 T3 out twice and getting touching holes/sub-MOA this early out, I have a new favorite walking around/just for fun of it rifle. (For now.)
