Need two new scopes

All right so here is my issue, I have a Tikka in 243 for varmint and yote hunting, I have a 300 win mag, and I am building another AR-10 308. I currently have a Nikon Monarch in 4-16x with mil dot's on the 243. I really like that scope and am leaning towards putting it on the 300 win. I would really like to get two more scopes, one for the 308 and another for the 243. I would really like to stay around the $500.00 range for each scope. The 308 is going to be more of a target rifle. And like I said the 243 is for varmints, I like the higher magnification scopes at the range, and so far I have really like the 16x for rabbit shooting.

So what scopes should I be looking at?

Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16x44 hands down. I own several and shoot the regularly from 100-800 yards glass is clear, and the turrets track very well. For $500-$600 they are the only scope I consider. I can start at 100 dial elevation all the way to 800 then back down to 100 and hit in the same place as before.

I will second the Vortex Viper line. Check them out. Very good glass and great customer service. I had some wonderful help from them when purchasing a scope. I have 2 Vortex scopes, one Nikon, 2 Burris, and an Alpen. The Vortex is far better than any others I own and near as I can tell in the store, as good as much more expensive scopes.

my 3 favorite scopes right now in this class 4-12 ish scopes, in the OP's price point... are Nikon Prostaff 5's, the Vortex Vipers, & the Burris Preditor Quest & C-4 models... I have several of each of these... the Prostaff 5's both mildot & BDC reticles Votex are both BDC reticles, & the Burris ( preditor quest has it's own reticle, & the C-4 has it's own reticle )...

all of these scopes are sure to impress...

6.5-20X44 BDC Vortex Vipers are on sale at Midway for $390. I'd rather have the 50mm scope as its image is a little brighter, but the 44mm would work in a pinch.

I'll make one additional comment on the Vortex scopes... I have both cheap ones ( Crossfires ), & medium priced ones, ( Vipers ) & all have had the most generous eye relief of any brand of scope I've used, no matter the price... in fact I've even run into situations where it was difficult to mount the scope far enough forward to get the eye relief needed...

not complaining here... that would be a good trait for a scope to have on something that could get brutal to shoot, to prevent "scope eye"...

I know I'm cheap. But $300 for a "cheap" scope, is INSANITY! By that, I mean the Vortex Crossfires... Everything about Vortex is amazing. I have 2 right now, and plan on a 3rd. I don't feel, like I'm in the same class as Tasco's, CrossPoint's or Simmons, when I'm at the range. If I wanted to spend more money on them, I would go with a Viper. But Honestly, I couldn't imagine getting better glass on any of my rifles. Buy the Crossfire and Lots of ammo for $500-$600.
