Need suggustions for next "must have in collection" gun

I currently have the following:

9mm Glock 26
.45 1911
.357 s&w 686
.22 mark III

Since I got the rimfire today, I'm allowed to make my next purchase in 90 days so I have time to save up and decide. I want something in a different caliber from what I already have. What does everyone suggust I need in my collection. So far I was leaning to a single action .44 or even a governor/judge, but any help would be appreciated.

A very good start to what will certainly become a great collection!

What's to add next? Some thoughts:
Big-bore revolvers: 44 Mag is perhaps the most versatile (S&W 629 Mountain Gun or a Ruger Redhawk are great choices); either in .45 Colt are also great choices (I have both Mountain Guns and a SRH in .44Mag). I also like the 610 in 10mm/.40 -- great gun and one revolver adds two excellent calibers to your collection. The Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull / .45 Colt is a great revolver as well. I've recently added the S&W Thunder Ranch .44 Special to my "must have" list. And today I got to handle the Thunder Ranch scandium frame performance center .44 acp, what a fantastic gun! If you're really drawn to the Judge (I'm not), you might wait a bit as the S&W Governor is just hitting the streets and for about the same retail price it's a much better gun (scandium allow frame, 6-shot, .410/.45 Colt plus .45 acp, S&W quality and service). So, you can either buy that when they become available or wait for the Judge prices to come down.

Semi-auto: You've got a Glock and a 1911, which covers the two most common, and superb, platforms. I like the S&W M&P .40; add a laser grip and you've added a new dimension to your collection. Sig Sauer makes a two-barrel gun kit for 9mm / .357 Sig, which is an nice combo and, again, adds two calibers to your collection. I also very much like the Springfield XD Compact series, where you can have a short grip for conceal carry, or a longer grip (extension as part of a 2nd higher-capacity mag) for non conceal. Since you already have a Glock and a 1911, you could look to add another. A Glock in .40 would be a great choice. A 1911 in either a new caliber (perhaps 38 Super!) or in a compact style. I'm looking for a 2nd 1911 to add a .460 Rowland conversion kit to, bringing .44 Mag power to a 1911.

Well, you have a 9x19 CCW pistol, and a great one at that, but you don't have a fullsize nine. Subcompacts aren't very fun for extended range visits. I'd suggest a full-size nine. The Glock 17 seems a natural choice, or any of the wondernines (92FS, CZ-75b, BHP)

Nice start. By my reckoning you're up for a 44 Mag next. Everyone should have a 44 Mag, a true staple of the handgun world. Even though there's other newer colorful cartridges around that may exceed the 44's power...the 44 remains an excellant choice because ammo & componants are everywhere and much cheaper than the monster calibers. The 44 Mag continues to kill game just as dead as the others. It's all about bullet choice and shot placement.

My next "got to have"?????

Well, lets see,

I have a USGI 1911A1 to go with my M16A1 style SP1, M1 Garand, & M1 Carbine,

I have a Beretta to go with my M16A2 Style AR

So I figure my nest pistol/revolver should be a Nagant Revolver to go with my Mosin-Nagant 91/30.

Next Gun

Looks like you're in for variety.

I have a similar collection, a few more centered around CCW for myself.
I got to the same point, had a couple modern revolvers a few auto's (large and small frame's).

My next purchase that always brings a smile to my face was a single action 45LC revolver (you know like a Vaquero or Uberti) brand is up to you, but make sure its a real "Hog Leg" when you yank it out at the range. Also opens up Cowboy Shooting (SASS) events if you so desire.

You have all somewhat modern designs...step back in time on the next one.

Not only is it fun and different, but it makes you appreciate how fast you can reload that Glock!

I make the .45LC suggestion assuming you have also ventured into Shotguns, Assault Rifles, and Varmint Guns and were talking about a pistol :).

1. .40 -- HK P30/P30s/USP/USPc/P2000 -- whichever one fits best.
2. 10mm, 38 super --- but do not know what pistols are good besides 1911 which you already have.
3. .380 --- Beretta 84/85, Kahr P380

If just to have another caliber --- .40

.44 magnum or .40 caliber

You pointed out your lack of a .44 caliber revolver, and I notice that you don't have a .40 caliber semiauto. Both of these calibers are very practical and lots of fun to shoot at the range.

If you want a .44 revolver that is single action, the Ruger Vaquero is very good. I have one that is polished stainless that shoots very well and also looks good.

For a .40 caliber gun, my favorite out of those I have is the Sig P229, one of the best all around guns I have ever seen.

Another of the .44 Magnum crowd, signing in.

The single-action .44 Mag Vaquero is different from the rest of your collection, while still offering the flexibility of .44 Special and .44 Magnum.

Another similar flexible alternative is the .454 Casull Ruger Alaskan (as was mentioned further up the thread)...and if you use it to shoot .45 Colt, its real tame. It will handle all the .45 "Magnum" loads as well as the potent .454.

A real blaster is what youre missing. Theyre a ton of fun. Though expensive if you dont reload.

Judging from the "need to wait 90 days" statement, I am guessing CCW is not on the table?

Are you a collector or a shooter?

How often, and how much do you plan to shoot? If the answer is "a good bit", then the .22 will pay for itself quickly. I would suggest investing in a quality reloading set-up (as well as a stock of components), as it will pay for itself quickly as well.
