Need some ideas for a new handgun

Yes I have owned Beretta px4 and 92fs both are excellent shooting guns but are closer to $600 and require me converting it to a G model with their kits or ordering a G model which is $550 plus transfer fee comes close to $600.
I would never depend on a 1911 for defensive use since I prefer a non-manual safety for that purpose.

I had the Model 23 and liked it but the more I shot it, the more that Glock trigger irritated my finger . I like the M&P series by S&W particularly the various Shield models .

I enjoy being a bit off the track so I will ask;
Have you considered a magnum revolver?
With a 357 you can shoot 38 Special, +P, or 357 mag rounds. If you reload, you can get everything in between the standard 38 and 357 rounds.
It's a whole world of shooting that you are missng out on with the auto-feeders.

Many of my handguns I would typically never have in my "defensive pistol" lineup, but I own them just the same since shooting is more than just personal defense. To each their own, though.

I do like the other suggestion of a revolver. A 4" .357 from S&W or Ruger is hard to beat in terms of a great all around handgun.

I am thinking about a Glock 21 or 22 for home defense maybe since I have ammo for both calibers in my inventory box.

The one gun I do not miss parting ways with is the Gen4 Glock 22 I used to have. The one gun I will never part ways with is the Gen4 Glock 21 that I have now. IMHO the 21 is superior to the 22:)

Bought a Gen 4 Glock 22 for two reasons
1.It had Ameriglo night sights already on it and came with 3 mags
2.Costed me $465 out the door every other glock there only had regular sights and were $80-120 more
I looked at other brands and the only gun that was my second choice was Smith and Wesson M&P 9 2.0 but was $90 more.
There was a Glock 21 but it was $610 with no Night sights so that took it out of the running and there was a Glock 17 with a front night sight but was still $600.
I was trying to keep it under $500 which I did end up doing and spare money for ammo.
Took it to the range to test it with the ammo I trust and it worked flawlessly and my groups tightened up once I readjusted my trigger finger. The recoil was very mild and the muzzle flip was not bad at all this gun is perfect for taming 40.

Canik is a good brand generally. Great value. You bought a Beta version sounds like. They have plenty experience with CZ pattern pistols. The T-120, T- 100, C-100 are all nice. But they're hammer guns without decocker. No worse than a 911 as for safe handling goes . Better actually with double action first shot and no need for a safety. You can't be careless with them like a Glock, which is maybe a good thing.
