Need opinions on what gun(s) to pick up next!

Alright, so I am brand new to this forum and started getting into all modern types of firearms and shooting a few years ago. I love shooting different guns and I’m ready to purchase one or two more next week but I need to be convinced because I have done weeks’ worth of researching and testing and have not gotten any closer to a decision.

I have about $1300 to spend

This is what I already own:
Glock 26 (CCW)
Dan Wesson 44 Mag.
Colt Python 357
Savage 25-06 Bolt
Mossberg 500 12g

This is where I am at currently with my decision
S&W 1911sc e series $1200 (makes my pants tight) or AR15 probably m&p or bushmaster
Or I can buy two of the following guns

XDM .45 Bi tone $700
Walther .22 pistol $300
Body guard 380 $380
Ruger LCR $400

If you like that S&W then how about this instead:

Street price is a bit more than you have to spend ~$1450-$1500, but it would totally be worth saving and waiting for it. I saw one in person the other day and it was SICK. Dan Wesson makes a ridiculously nice 1911.... Now if only they would make the Guardian in 10mm. Then I would be in heaven.

I love the dan wesson 1911s but my $1300 that I have to spend is already pushed passed my limit really but I could pull it off without getting in to much trouble with the Mrs.. I'm not one of those people that's gonna ask which one is the best because that's just a chevy ford question. I would just like to see what others would purchase if given the similar circumstance for a person that's is into tactical, defensive, carry, and in the future would like to get into some more target shooting events.

That smith is such a sexy looking gun and I feel that s&w are a very reliable. I can't say they are best 1911 but they seem to rate pretty high in all areas when choosing a gun and at a fair price I would say.

So far it sounds like the consences is if you were in my shoes you would splurge on that one really nice gun instead of two guns if lesser value

I've got the Mossberg 12 gauge that has only seen skeet action. Eventually I would like to add a more tactical version to the collection and a nice double barrel.

I've been thinking of the ar a lot more recently because my brother-in-law has a m&p15-22 and it's is such a fun gun. I would probably would have already bought one of those by now but he is letting me hold on to while he goes off to the marines this summer. A ar is defiantly a considerable option but almost scared I will go broke trying to upgrade and accessorize it with all the choices out there.

I'm a believer of having a near clone of our service rifle. I would go for the AR next. There's a wide range of prices. Most of us don't really need the Colts, Novesque, LMT, etc. Get one (or build one) with fold down rear sights (front sight can be standard or fold down). Add a sling and shoot it. When you can, add a decent optic if you want. Everything after that is VERY optional.

Some excellent choices!! I especially like the Wesson and Colt.

I have a SW1911PD, very nice gun and the E series are even better. Of your list that'd be the one I'd get (though I'd actually go for a different 1911, sinceI already have the S&W: I have a Sig TacOp, a SA, a Kimber Aegis, and a Dan Wesson V-Bob in my sights). I also have the Bushmaster E2S modular carbine, excellent platform! Last month I got a LCR357 and LOVE that revolver! Recoil is surprisingly manageable even with full house mags, and the trigger is the best DA I've ever pulled. I'd skip the Body Guard - looked at them hard as that was my first choice before the LCR, but they just don't feel good in my hand, which means it won't get much range time and I won't be a good shot with it when I need it (the LCR gets a lot of range time, btw, and I just ordered the LCR38 with laser for my daughter). I've also pondered a polymer frame .45, either the XDM or the S&W M&P. Can't too many .45s!

Whatever your heart desires. whatever your livestyle thinks it needs or habits might want.

I cant tell you any more than you can me....

OK

Not covered is a semi auto rifle, and a .22 target/plinker.

Sooo.

I'd go with the S&W M&P AR (buddy had one, it's fine). I'd skip the Walther in favor of a Ruger Mark I/II/III or 22/45. Spend what remains on accessories, extra magazines and spare parts.

Just me.

Everyone needs a .22lr. If I had the money and was limited to your list, I would buy the Walther .22 and the XDM .45. I would use the .45 for winter carry and spend all day at the range with the .22.

In the end though, get what you want and what fits you. If you buy what someone else would get, you may end up regretting your decision later.

ar 15

If you would consider building te lower yourself you could build a very nice ar for quit a bit less than your budget. I am about to start a build involving a del ton kit. I havent decided on a lower yet but that should be easy enough. and by the time I have it loaded down with useul (not just cool) accesories, it will be a little less than 1000. That will be with a flashlight and a ot o magpul furniture and accesories. just a thought. If you wanted to may see the specifics of my build for some ideas you could pm me and I could elaorate more.

i just got a vz 61 skorpion made by our czech friends and wow it is accurate and reliable.....albeit lil bit ungainly looking lol

try one ....i just got mine from cdnn for 420 shipped and i love it....but i know its not on your list and its an oddball and im just ecstatic on a new gun purchase haha

TxFlyFish - Thanks for pointing that out! jk

Alright so I think my eyes are set on a AR. Build or not to build is the question.
I liked the idea of building the AR and I spent probably 4 hours the last few days trying to put a build list together that meets my budget. I really like the look and funtionality of the m&p15t though which can be had just under $1k
http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/...57784_757784_757784_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y

I would diffently want a quad rail, tactical version if I build one, that looks like the m&p15t.

Any suggestions on buying a complete upper, and building lower? I dont have any speciality tools but I do a lot of car repairs so I am a mechanical type of person. Are there any brands I need to stay away from and wheres a good place to purchase? Im really impressed so far with all help. Thanks guys!

You're missing something "old west":
If wanting to spend on one "iconic":
- Colt SAA .45 (if you luck out you might find one "on sale" with convertible .45 ACP cylinder--the latter for target/cheap fun shooting, esp if you end up with a .45 Auto)...OR.
Two:
- Ruger New Vaquero .45 Colt/.45 ACP convertible (via Davidsons/Gallery of Guns IIRC - http://www.galleryofguns.com/genie/...ype=Revolver&cal=45AP&fin=&sit=&zipcode=27545 - scroll down - AND a full size (you already have a CC auto) Polymer .45 auto (XDM, M&P etc).
