Need low-recoil .38 spec. round for wife to learn with.

Another vote for a .22lr pistol to start her out on.

My wife had zero interest in my hobby, but agreed to go out once to the rifle range to spend more time with me.

She shot for the first time in probably 20 years, and had a grand time with my .22 rifle. Letting her move up to try out a .223 AR15, and she hated it.

She's hated every one of my handguns thus far, except a .22 revolver. She finds anything with more recoil to be no fun, and doesn't care for the autoloading .22 as she finds hte slide racking back and forth intimidating.

But revolvers? She has fun, she likes the looks and while the one we bought for her is a bit heavy she'll still go out every other week or so and shoot for an hour.

Thank you all

Thank everyone for your input. 148gr. wadcutters will be the next couple of boxes of ammo thru the thing with my wife.:)

WinClean for low recoil

I have a Rossi 351 "snubbie .38" that shoots really nice with Winchester "WinClean" 125-grain ammo (jacketed soft points).

These are not the same as the Winchester "white-box" 130-grain Wal-Mart specials. Although they also come in a white box, they are different. I discovered that the WinClean is a lighter load according to Winchester's website and based on my own experience. WinClean is almost $2 cheaper that the standard "white box" here in Indiana (available for $8.49 everyday at Meijer stores). Prices vary greatly from gunstore to gunstore.

In addition, the WinClean is jacketed around the base of the bullet, so there is no lead flying and flaking, therefore no lead buildup at the cylinder gap or forcing cone.

This WinClean is not as light as 148 wadcutterd, but I like it because it's cleaner. I don't have to scrub-a-dub-dub the bore and the cylinder with lead cleaner.

"Did you learn that yourself or did you find that info somewhere?"
K,
when i went to the range the 1st time with the 94 the trigger was so bad...seemed like 25lbs trigger pull. Was going to trade it in but decided to see if i could do somthing on my own(I'm NOT a gun smith) so it had to be easy and straight foward. called wolff springs and they told me they did not make a spring set for the 94....only the 85. I ordered a set for the 85 and installed it in the 94. Found out why they Don't make a spring set for the 94....would get 2 or 3 light strikes every magazine (wheel full). I left the trigger spring from the kit in and replaced the main spring with the stock spring out of my tarus 85. This combination works pretty well....gun is really fun to shoot(went through 500 rounds this afternoon!) I will caution you.you will get a light strike every once and a while which will cause a F T Fire.So make sure this is going to be a range/fun gun. The only way to guarantee 100% is with the factory springs. A gun smith can proly give it a good trigger and 100%
anyway good luck with getting the wife to shoot...its worth it!
