Need help to identify a pistol

And in the U.S. (which the original poster doesn't have to worry about), unless the owner could prove that it's pretty old (pre-required serial number days), that gun would be illegal.
I'm pretty sure it would be up to the State to prove it was illegal and not the owner's burden, since there are no laws against guns without serial numbers

There ARE laws against removing the numbers, but that's usually easy to see

sm more informations

i think there was a marking on the left slide of the slide, it Looks like the markings (may be nr.) were removed (sanded or whatever).

the gun is a part of evidence, so we try to find out what manufacturer it is/was.

The Trigger & Trigger guard combination is pretty unique, no guns i saw or know got this triggershape in the back.

some psm or other eastblock guns are in Details compareable but not really when you see the whole gun.

in case of legal illegal, this gun is also in Germany illegal! no markings no serialisation and no proofstamps.

In Germany also illegal as in the states i think.

Serial numbers weren't required here until 1968, although some manufacturers used them anyway.

Home built guns are also legal, and don't require numbers, but they can't be sold

It may well be all the markings have been polished off yours

unknown gun

looks like something a hit man / assassin would use

in the movie HARD BOILED a hit man has a similiar pistol hidden inside a book

It looks to be a home shop/machinist made gun-possibly using some factory parts.
Another correction- in the US, home made guns CAN be sold. They can not be MADE for sale.

I note that my thought about a sheet metal slide with a pinned in breech block appears to be correct. The breech block appears to be well made and machined, as opposed to the fairly crude slide, again a sign of a model shop gun, where outside appearance, grips and sights don't matter, but the gun must work.

It is possible that the breechblock is from some other gun, while the slide was made by some gunsmith, but that seems unlikely.

I will say that IMHO, the origin of the gun is in Europe, and very probably in Germany.
