Need help making a decision

Seems like you would be more comfortable with the heavier gun. Weight often will mitigate recoil, muzzle flip, etc. I can understand where you're coming from - I find that I am better with the heavy gun firing a low pressure, though larger, round, as opposed to the lighter gun firing a lighter, smaller, high pressure round. I know a 44 Mag is high pressure, but the heavy gun helps tame it somewhat.
When you were shooting the 9mm, did you try different bullet weights? I was about to give up on the 9mm platform myself, and found that the slower 147's worked better for me than the 115s. And that's in a CZ P07. If you're settled on a .45 though, I'd say pick the heaviest gun, and go with standard pressure .45 ammo.

No, that was a mistake that I have to admit. I purchased 300rds of ammo with handgun and once that was used did not try anything different. Will have to take that into consideration along with gun weight if I decide to go with 45acp. I believe the HK is the heaviest handgun in my original list but also most expensive. Have a lot to think about, but will try all I can to make sure I make the right choice this time. Pretty much jumped right in before without doing enough research and getting opinions from those in the know.

I have smallish hands and prefer the standard Sig grip, but I have never picked up the 227, it may be diffetent and have a bigger grip.

On the 226, I dislike the E2 grip. It alters the feel too much and not for the better in my opinion. It can also affect trigger pull as well. As the hammer strut is shaped differently and can bind a little.

I haven't seen anyone personally who liked the feel of the Sig in the hand and liked the trigger reach and feel, but didn't like shooting it.

There aren't ugly-enough words in the English language to say how much I hate the the E2 grip on my P226. Luckily the Hague just arrived. So it wont go to the scrap pile....
Yaa, if I could say it in Hungarian.....:D
