Im trying to decide between a couple of options for .22 tactical rifle.
My first option is to ruger 10/22 with tac stock :

or

Other choice is SW M&P 15-22 MOE

What do you guys think?

WOW, i would be happy with either one of the 3. Very nice. I prefer to keep my 10/22 plain. I figure i could spend that money on another gun:)

The S&W M&P 15-22 is probably the most desirable firearm on the market - you just literally cannot beat this bad boy with a stick !

Hands down the best " tactical twenty two" out there - It might be the best rimfire for the money and is a perfect zombie gun and SHTF gun. It is a real AR-15 rifle set up to shoot .22LR- absolutely designed the same as an Army or civilian AR but it's got a rimfire action - and it's receivers are plastic so they are extremely light !

You can modify this however you want it. I'm talking about , making it an ARsniper rifle in the Mk 12 mod 1style with a nice magnified rifle scope for zooming and booming - or you can put a small red dot / reflex on it and make it a CQB weapon ( like mine is ) - highly highly customizable and fine tune able. Plus you can go back and redo it if you change your mind or your mission.

Also don't forget - the actual action is that of a highly Effective , high quality autoloading rimfire action ... It's probably the best semi auto rimfire you can find right now. Plus it's got some money dropped into the barrel and they fixed the intervals - it's a real high quality rifle.

Regular .22 i'd go with the Ruger 10/22, but as you have specified a tactical version the M&P 15-22 wins hands down due to it being such an awesome trainer with it's similarity to the AR platform.

It looks like a mp5

Umarex HK MP5 22(MP5/ MP5SD)
I held one at the local gun show. If I hadn't bought my 10/22 I woulda jumped all over this. It was for about $450.00+

I use a S&W M&P 15-22 as my trainer/practice rifle for my AR's. It's the gun I use whenever I'm teaching someone on the AR platform or if we're practicing since it keeps costs down. All of the controls are exactly like the AR-15, even the procedure for breaking it down for cleaning is almost exactly the same. The only thing it's missing is a functional forward assist, which admittedly I've never actually had to use on any of my AR's. It would be nice if it had one but it's hardly a deal breaker, plenty of military AR's don't have the forward assist either.

We've easy put between 5-10k rounds of 22lr through our M&P 15-22 and it still runs like a champ, that's even with dumping the mags on the ground and getting them fouled up with grass and dirt. Pretty much the only time it hangs up is when you get a dud round from one of those bulk packs. I think we may have managed to get it dirty enough to start fouling up once, but it took a solid 3-day weekend of shooting without cleaning to do it. A thorough cleaning afterwards had it running at 100% again.

I wouldn't hesitate to suggest the S&W M&P 15-22 to anyone looking for a solid practice or training platform for their AR-15. In that role there really isn't anything else that compares.

My 10/22 came from ruger with the tapco fusion stock and I love it. I also like the smith and wesson tactical as well but Im a huge fan of 10/22's for the accuracy and reliability.

1) CMMG M4LEP22-A
2) S&W M&P 15-22
3) Ruger SR-22
4) SIG Sauer 522

I'd be happy with any of these, but the CMMG would be my first choice.

S&W MP 15-22

More accurate than any of the others mentioned
90% of actual AR15 for training
Very reliable, light weight, and easily cutomized
I can't say enough good things about it.

Oh wait, it was named Rifle of the Year in 2010 by The Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence!

Did I say mentioned, it's an awesome rifle?

You hit it right on the head - just cannot say enough good things about it. Seriously. you can Just keep on making the list bigger and the rifle itself more awesome than it was yesterday --- and it was pretty pimp yesterday , too !!

I don't think it is the best rimfire for the money. Not even close for your average shooter. But if you want a tactical type 22, that is the one I would presently choose. But I would want to learn a bit more about the HK version which came out after the patent challenge against GSG.
