Most law enforcement agencies carry whatever they can get a deal on. Each year, in theory anyway, I could have ordered the Department any of usually 10 to 12 varieties of ammo on the "state contract" list. Winchester was usually the cheapest so we got Winchester until one year Federal was the cheapest so we got Federal. (Only thing I could order without getting the wrath of the city manager was cheapest in list)There are lots of good choices for SD ammo out there. I like Remington Golden Sabers (the police around here carry them), but I'm not shy about using Speer Gold Dots, or just about anything in 124 grain, usually +P, from a reputable manufacturer. Speer, Hornady, Remington, etc.

Agreed. We have a Remington plant about 40 miles from here, though. With one exception, every agency I know of carries Remington Golden Sabers. The one exception of which I am aware is in a town that has a Sig Sauer ammo plant.
