need a quality 22LR lever action rifle

Lever Action 22LR ???

Very difficult to get a quality lever action 22 rifle when limited to $ 200. If you get lucky, maybe you'll find a used Marlin or Winchester 22 lever gun. Forget the Henry as it is NOT of acceptable quality.

I've owned and sold both Marlin and Winchester 22 lever guns over the years. They are both excellent. I still have a Browning BL-22 lever action rifle which is equally excellent but new prices on these are sky high.

I purchased a Taurus Model 62 stainless steel "pump action" carbine 22LR rifle in December. Even though it is not a lever action rifle, it deserves serious consideration. It is extremely accurate and every bit as fast as a lever action. The cost price new was $ 229 plus tax. In fact I'm planning on purchasing 2 more of the rifles to give to my sons. The Taurus Model 62 is a faithful copy of the old Winchester Model 62 "gallery rifle" with a manual safety added. Unless your just determined to buy a lever action rifle, I would take a look at the Taurus Model 62. Check out their website for additional information.

Anymore I prefer The winchester because they haven't installed that dammed ***** safety yet and that is all the reason I need to recomend the Winchester over the Marlin.

I agree, can't stand Marlin's safeties on their lever guns. That eliminates the Marlin in my book. Besides, the 9422 has much cleaner lines and better finish work. My 1980 vintage 9422 is a beauty.

Anybody else think it's a bit strange that the Japanese government is officially opposed to our 2nd Amendment rights (via the UN) yet they have no problem with Miroku manufacturing and importing to the U.S rifles like the Browning BL-22? Firearms that virtually no Japanese citizen could even own. Keep in mind that in Japan the line between Government and Industry is so narrow it's practically nonexistent. Not that I don't own my share of Pacific rim stuff, but this in particular strikes me as extremely hypocritical. -- Kernel
