Need a new 22lr bolt action

I've shot all the ones suggested. All good suggestions. Also, look at the Marlin bolt actions. Mine shoots great, super accurate (the HB version).

There was a time I would have said Savage hands down.

The RAR 22 has such great reviews and is so cheap. If you want it because of your other Ruger guns it is hard to argue with you.

My 22lr bolt gun is by far the rifle I shoot the most. Probably close to 10 times as much as all my other rifles combined. I personally like the CZ, but it is more expensive. If you buy a used CZ 455 try to avoid early production. Some issues with barrel installation making them less accurate according to many. Still accurate, but less than 452s or the more recently produced 455s(says the internet consensus).

I'm a big fan of CZ's bolt action rim fire rifles. I have a CZ455fs and the action is extremely smooth, probably the smoothest I've owned. It's a nice looking rifle that is accurate and fun to shoot.

This will be used for 100 yard or less silhouette shooting.

IMHO, You need a good set of aperture sights for silhouette (front & rear). Starting with that premise, a good choice would be a nice clean used Anschutz. You can slide off the rear sight and slide a scope onto the dovetail. For a serious difficult sport, you need a serious rifle. There seem to be a lot of excellent used Anschutz that not much more than a new cz, less than a 77 more than ruger american. Right in the price ball park. My old 1970's Anschutz 64MS holds and balances superbly.

While I dont recommend this gun for iron sight silhouette, if you plan to use open iron sights (as opposed to aperture ), the CZ trainer has pretty good iron sights and a long sight radius. The triggers can be reworked (not necessary with anschutz). I believe the 455 trainer retains the good sights while other models like LUX/UL have a down graded rear sight.

Good input guys. I did the comp, got 21 out 40 with an old winchester 67. It's an old bolt action single shot, no magazine. it was super fun. I am just going to use this and see what i can do for now. I finished sixth out of 15 or so.
