Neck turning benefits for factory chambers and brass types?

I turn the outside of the necks on a couple of my rifles (bolt action).

Does it improve accuracy? Couldn't tell you. Does it negatively affect accuracy? Definitely not.

I do notice that on probably 85% or better of the brass, when you turn you'll find that you take a lot of material off of one side of the neck and not much or none at all off of the other. That means that with the brass thickness varying so much you at least have the potential for the round to be off center when chambered.

I figure it doesn't take that long to do, you only have to do it once, and a uniform neck will have a more uniform and consistent hold on the bullet and a less chance of runout from being wedged into the chamber.
