Neck Tension

You guys are way over my head . I messed with neck tension or what ever you call it . Went with bushing dies to adjust , went back to the standard F/L RCBS die. As far as the ring around the match hpbt bullet , I use the comp. seating die by Redding , using the 168 gr. Sierra MK ,I also would get a ring about 3/16 down from the tip , the bullet isn't bottoming out on the stem , makes sense to me that a ring may form pushing the bullet into a neck that is tighter then the bullets OD. Never caused a problem with accuracy , I tried removing it with 0000 steel wool , didn't make a difference. Granted I'm only shooting 200 yards , my groups are tight either way. Just my 2 cents.

Th range provides me the only unit of measure I need to judge the effectiveness of my ammo crafting. Go out and shoot at 800 - 1000 yards and if you get good vertical placement with few or no flyers you have everything right ammo wise. You get a lot flyers and a high vertical spread at 800 when you are shooting good groups at 100 - 300 it's a pretty sure bet you have a reloading issue
