From the choices you listed I'd take the SP 101.

FWIW If it were me I'd carry my CA .44spl bulldog 2.5". Either of these are fine SD weapons IMO.

This would be my choice too.
 
Of your choices I'd be inclined to go with the EMP.

My SR40c seems to be seeing a lot of holster time in the woods lately. Plenty of power in a convenient, non-cumbersome package that allows you to do things other than carry a gun.

EMP, Glock 23, M&P40c, 24/7 G240c, any of them would make a nice packin' pistol IMHO.

And bring some spare ammo for the spontaneous plinking sessions sure to arise!

Bear Spray and whatever gun you shoot the best(other than the 9mm). .357/.40/.45 will take care of just about anything east of the Mississippi. Take what you shoot best and you will be fine.
 
Exactly what make and model of pepper spray do you guys carry when hiking? There are so many choices that it's difficult to decide and once I order it, it's mine for better or worse.
