From your own link!

"Articles of Confederation and perpetual Union between the states of New Hampshire, Massachusetts-bay Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia."

Got that? "Perpetual Union." Hence, "UNITED." Or is it your position that July 4th as a national holiday, not to mention the entire Bicentennial celebration is/was a fraud?

Got a link for determining how many angels dance on the head of a pin? :D

You said that the US was formed by the Declaration and I said it was formed by the Articles. You then quoted the Articles to show that the States formed the US. That's what I said! The US was formed by the Articles, not by the Declaration.

And Yes, the 4th, as you see it, is a fraud. There was really something great that happened on that 4th of July, but it was not the founding of a Country called the US.

Please accept facts. The US was created by the States with the Articles of Confederation.

After many years of reflecting on the subject, this statement is the essence of why not to make prohibition of firearms the law of the land.

Firearms make old folks (like me) and inherently weaker folks (like women, some disabled folks, less physically trained folks and others) more nearly equal.

Furthermore, if one is less skilled with firearms, then they can get training. If one belongs to one of those groups who are inherently weaker than some others, you cannot be trained and as conditioned as a strong person.

I think it just doesn't make sense!!

Well, I haven't been here long, but it seemed like every post went off on tangents, so I thought I was acting within the social norms of this group.

But I don't take this particular thread seriously anyway.

Funnin? You mean I've been sitting in this penalty box all day for nothing? ;)

Thanks for the welcome ... I registered here the other day to comment on a thread and it has since been read over 500 times. That's a lot of traffic!

I distinkly relember saying 10 minutes!

Yeah, TFL is slowly lumbering to life again. It's good to have her back.

like Tamara, I think it's pro-gun satire. Read this blurb:

'Plus, you always have that one pro-gun guy that brings up some dumb fact like, “In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, 6 million Jews and countless others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated. China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.” '
