My reloads in Ruger and Kimber

If it works with factory ammo and chambers your reloads then you are probably light on the powder charge. The other gun may have lighter springs that make it more reliable with a wider variety of ammo but this may cause premature wear with heavy loads.

From what you describe my money is on your Kimber having a heavier recoil spring.

I've had three, brand new, Colt Gold Cup series 70's, they will run with a low charge of fast powder. I load the 45ACP cart. warmer to function in all my 45autos.

I've used 4.0/Bullseye/200 LSWC in .45 ACP as a plinking load and it almost always operates in whatever 1911A1 or other auto I use it in.
Wow, my pet load for practice was 4.9/Bullseye/185 LSWCs in my pin gun, and I had to use a 15 lb spring.

Spring's too heavy on the Kimber, would be my guess.
