My Next Handgun

I would vote for the HK, but if you found the P229 too large for your hands, the USP probably won't be too much better. It's still pretty hand fiilling.

The TRP is an excellent gun, but you might want to see if you can find one locally to handle as the front strap checking is very coarse. Some people - myself included - find that it gets downright painful to shoot a lot. That was the one and only reason that I sold mine. I loved everything else about it.

EDIT: Just realized you posted above. lol.. sorry. Good choice! Hope it works well for you! Mine required a break in period of about 300-400 rounds. If you get a couple of failures in that time, don't worry about it. By the time I got to 500 rounds through the gun, it ran 100% for the next 1000 rounds before I sold it. Just a tight gun out of the box.

Good choice. Springfield makes a nice gun and you're going to love that SA trigger. I bought a CZ 75 SAO and now I'm migrating over to all SA pistols (or DA/SA that can be shot SA, like the CZ).

For auto loaders, I am a fan of the CZ 75 in 9mm(I love mine, and the CZ 85 is the same except for ambi controls and adjustable sights, if you're a lefty or like ambi controls)

A buddy has the HK USP in .40. It is truly one of the finest handguns I've handled and shot. A little more money, but it is the whole package. It can be carried condition 1 or 2, DA only if you like, has a de-cocker... just awesome versatility.

Lately, we have been enjoying the revolvers. Ruger GP100 (.357mag) and Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 mag. You can load your own ammo for ssoooooo cheap for these two calibers, and it is great fun pounding away at steel targets with heavy bullets and hot loads.

Best advise I could offer is to go to a local range and rent a variety of guns. See what blows your skirt up.

I have most of the handguns I want at the moment, although handguns tempt me the most.

I do have 2 glaring oversights in my collection---the lack of a 1911, a Beretta 92, and a CZ of any kind.

I plan fix those problems before the year is over. The most likely solution will be a Sig Tacops .45 (wildcard would be a Colt Delta Elite 10mm Gen 2), a Beretta 92FS Italy, and a CZ P-01, probably in that order...

Pick a target farther away! :D (sorry, I just completely ripped off that reply from another thread, but it fits so well, I just had to. )

FairWarning... I have been shooting my fatherin-law's Beretta 92 for several years, and it's certainly a fine piece. But once you get your mitts on a CZ, you will likely choose not to bother with the 92. It's THAT much better!!! IMO
