My New (to me) Marlin 1895G 45-70!

Would you mind posting a few close-up pics of that stock? I'm intrigued by the bed-liner coating and would like to see some detailed pics if you have the time to post them. Thanks!

BTW, heckuva deal!!!!

Here's some pics of the finish. I'm pretty much diggin' it.

I put after market peep sights on my Marlin and really liked them, then for some reason I decided to scope it. When the weather breaks I plan to remount the peeps and sight it in.

Aside from looking better it handles better without the scope.

.... do yourself a fav and drop the the scope/mount and do the iron sights in that set up, the 45 70 levergun is not a sniper rifle

That's what I'd do too. Also, unless your gloved hand doesn't fit well in the stock lever, I'd sell the over-sized "loop" and reinstall the factory one. I find the big loops bulky, faddish and (I'm sure I'm in the minority here with this admittedly subjective opinion) goofy looking. "Conventionally" sized levers have fit most peoples' hands just fine for well over a century.
You got a great buy on a really nice rifle.

You know, I like the lever. My first thought was to sell it, but I think it looks sweet. I was thinking about trying the original lever and if it works, I may sell the big one.

I was wrong in my original assessment: That lever is really only worth $15!!!

If you decide to sell it, please allow me to be first in line - I'll pay top dollar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,

:)

P.S. I'm serious about buying it, if you want to sell it.
