My new knuckle buster

Times have changed. A boss I had back in the 70s had a reputation from one day bringing an AR 15 to work and setting it on his desk. Well he had to promise to never bring it in again but that was the extent of the problems he had. At the same job someone brought a live 20MM round to work and disassembled it in a bench vise. Nothing much came of that either. I had one of the little Remington derringers once, after I bought it I even went and bought some very expensive .41 rimfire ammo, repro, thinking I would at least test fire. Then I found the common hairline in the pivot ring and that ended that. Sold it off due to not having much interest in hoarding non shooting guns. Can't wait to hear your firing report on that thing. Maybe you could bore it out a little to take .454 Casull!

Hey Playboy!

:) Hey man,
Great to finally hear from you again. Where the heck have you been lately?
That derringer should really let you know you fired it with some .410 buckshot shells. I shot my buddy's derringer with buckshot and it was resonably accurate out to 5 yards, (which is all you really need for a gun like a derringer=CLOSE RANGE). It had a pop to it regarding recoil.

Am I alone here

I am not a fan of the modern Remington Look-alikes, mainly because they do not actually look that much like the Remington. :barf:

That said, the .45 Colt does not have to be loaded to the fullest of it's potential in these little guns.

You can stick a roundball atop a few grains of powder and have a nice derringer load, or load down a more modern round. In other words, you can have an effective self-defense load built for short range (yeah, yeah, I've seen the Munden videos:rolleyes:) in these tiny guns.

The Doc is out now.

I have a single barrel one I shot some .410 slugs outta it. dunno for size I can only hold mine with 2 fingers (ones the trigger) and the third barelygets halfway on... In my head I was like just don't let it fly back into my face! Over all it isn't bad it was aimed about a foot higher after the shot and load as hell though. I like to give it to macho friends that think they know everything bout guns. I go "try this little guy" I'm evil.

PS can yours fire both barrels at the same time?

I got broke of the idea of firing big caliber guns in small pkgs by an uncle when I was a teen. He handed me a 10 ga double relatively light and easy to handle, had rabbit ears and steel butplate. He then handed me two 3 1/2" shells, I loaded and fired it and handed it back to him to hang back on his wall. I shoot magnums, but in large heavy revolvers or rifles. All my derringer size guns are B/p and loaded to standard loads.

robhof^^

I hear that. Not exactly the same story but scoping my eye on with my dads 30-06 (step up from a 30-30 I'll tell you!) when i was nine... I couldn't see. I needed glasses go figure?:D I was very hesitant about guns until I got older.

Now I like to test calibers before I buy. I still need to shoot more magnums. No use in punishing yourself with something you enjoy. Like my girlfriend she isn't fond of 9mm in a polymer gun, but she can shoot .38 outta a revolver and .22 like its going outta style.

Sorry that was really OT, I'll try and save it...

how is the bore set up on those things? is it smooth or rifled?
If its rifled are rifled .410 slugs bad for it? or vice versa shot bad for rifling?
Just curious. cause I think I might need to grab some .410 slugs for mine.
