My name is Vanguard.45, and I am a Gun-aholic

The addiction has also found me at a young age. I have 3 shotguns, 5 rifles, and two handguns. I'm in college now and have no money, therefore I constantly find myself surfing the internet, researching which gun I will buy next. (Pretty sure I've decided on a Springfield Mil-Spec 1911) I'm certain my collection will continue to rise after I get out of college and start making some money.

Let's see, I bought a P22 in February, then in March, on the way to the range I stopped at a gun shop and ended up buying a Rough Rider. OK, that's enough for now!....Oh wait, my birthday is in April!! I don't have a Taurus! Here come da Judge!!!!

As far as I can remember, I've owned 68 firearms... though honestly I may be forgetting some. Recently I've cut my collection down to a half dozen and if anything it's only going to down from there, not up. I came to the realization that I didn't need dozens of guns and that it was much more enjoyable and efficient to focus on a select few.

Update

Well, I sold the Trophy Match Longslide and bought a Colt WWI Reissue in Carbonia Blue (NIB). Now my dad and I both tote WWI Colts (he has my old one!).

The G19 is staying and the Colt is staying.

My gun buying days are over.

Thanks for sharing in the addiction!

My gun buying days are over.

"Got all I want and need"!!!! How many times have I said that!!!! I quit 365 days a year except on leap year. I enjoy 'em now, the wife will enjoy 'em at the yard sale after my time comes. :D

Prioritizing down to a few that you like and serve the functions needed is smart. I love all my toys but I'm starting to get that urge to make things simpler, especially given the state of ammo, the expense of the hobby, and the time and resource constraints around training and actually getting good with what you have.

Of course, if my wife heard that I'd deny everything.

Yeah, I've finally come to the realization. . .

. . . that there is just something very comforting about having a 1911 in .45ACP tucked in an IWB holster on your waistband.

And by "comforting" I mean "I wonder what gun I'll be buying next."

Just kidding.

Or maybe I'm not.

I'll keep you posted.

Shouldn't we be called Hoploholics?

I mean, Jeff Cooper coined the term Hoplophobe for people who have an irrational fear of weapons,,,

Wouldn't Hoploholic fit for a person who just can't resist the call of the blued steel sirens?

I'm one,,,
Just purchased a S&W Model 34,,,
I named her Velda after Mike Hammer's sexy secretary.

Her big sister is a S&W Model 36,,,
I named her Velma after my very beautiful sister.

Yes, I am a Hoploholic,,,
I am not ashamed!

I need to cut back. . For example, I have a Remington 870, a Winchester 1200, and a Mossberg 500. I hardly ever use a shotgun at all, let alone 3 12 gauge pumps. I was interested in how they work. Since then I've set up a Maverick as a home defense gun, picked up a 12 ga Winchester because it was $60, and a 20 gauge Mossberg 500 for the kids. It's more than I'll ever need.

OTOH, I have 4 boys all interested in the outdoors, and I have enough to give each one of my kids a 12 gauge pump when they leave the house.

Oh boy, I'm in for trouble down the road.....

I'm only 25, yet currently own...

Beretta 391 Semi Shotgun
Marlin Single Break action 12ga
H&R Single Break action 20ga
Stoeger Uplander SxS 12ga w/20ga barrels as well
Mossberg 500 12 ga
Ruger M77 MkII
Ruger 10/22
Ruger Mini 14
SKS
Walther P99
Springfield XD-40 5"
Winchester Model 60 .22LR
Marlin Model 101 .22LR
Ruger MkII
S&W 27-3 .357
CZ 75B
High Standard D-100 .22LR (though I don't know why:confused:)
Remington 870 Express

I just can't bring my self to sell or trade anything yet, not sure if I ever will. I figure they're already paid for, and unless I'm shooting them, they don't cost me anything now. Just gotta save $$ for more :p

Uh-oh Gun Nut, now the dollars really start flyin out the ejection port.

I told my self a few years ago that I will Never get my Class 3 FFL, as it would mean the end of all cash flow for me :p

We'll see how long I can stand strong against the urge....

What to do? Make the Big bucks so you can get the Big guns of course!

Your a lucky man..... your addiction can be cured!!!!!!
It's a different story for us reloaders the addictive disease is terminal.
There is no cure.................

I've recently tried to clean out my gun safe. I don't hunt but I had a Weatherby Vanguard in 7mm Rem mag, a CZ-550 in .30-06, a Rem 700 ADL in .30-06, a Savage Model-10 in .308, a Win Model-70 in .300 Win mag, and a Ruger 77 in .270. I sold them all except the CZ. Now I'm on a .22 binge. Just got a CZ-452 Ultra Lux, a Marlin Model 60, a Thompson .22 Classic, and a S&W Model 17. I confess. I'm a sick, sick puppy.

Gunaholic meetings are not for those seeking a cure.

Vanguard.45,
Sorry to hear of your terrible addiction.
Take two aspirins and call me in the morning...

...about what you want to sell.

Please tell me when the next Gunoholic meeting is - I'll come with lots of cash to absolve any of you with evil, sexy guns who must give them up as penance from your sins:D
