What is not seen is the internal modular weight system which will allow me to customize the weight from light to heavy.

- aircraft grade aluminum
- forward barrel porting (soon)
- black hard anodized finish
- multiple mount points for Magpul rail sections

While the overall dimension is somewhat squad (needed clearance for the internals) - future versions will be trimmed down a bit to make the angles a bit less pronounced.

Can be removed and installed with one simple tool and firmly locks into place.

Sorry about the background mess - had to get back to work and wanted to snap a few shots off.

Am I missing something? Whats the purpose of that big aluminum box?

My thoughts exactly..... I am intrigued sir! Please explain this beefy contraption you are developing!! I am interested.

I believe in the first post I pointed out the over boxy-ness of it is not final. Think of it as a rough draft.

The system allows me to get the same physics out of a stationary mounted weapon, without actually being stationary or mounted.

Simple concept.

Yes it is a simple concept, but I guess I dont understand why you would want to add all that weight. Does your LR-308 kick more than other models? I've had no problem shooting bolt action .308s which are lighter that AR style .308s.

It's looks interesting, maybe even fun. Not sure there is a market for it, I wonder if it might not be more useful in a larger caliber. I'd like to see your strings...

What the maximum weight?

My design should allow up to a maximum of 16lbs (2lb modular sections) and still leave me enough room for the supressor. Did I mention the surpressor yet? :D

DPMS stock weight is around 12lbs (unloaded)

I should still be a good 10lbs under a Barret :eek::p

I'll find out this weekend. I just got it back from the machine shop this afternoon. :p

Hoping to get it finished before I go so at least the color is uniform. haha ;)

Yes its free float.

The original tube style free float is still present underneath (you will noticed that is what the second layer of venting is cut out of).

The shroud locks in place via a railed gas block and some set screws.

There are rails installed on the bottom of the stock free float tube, this is where the weight system will attach internally.

The box, or what I refer to as the "shroud" conceals and protects the weight system (and rifle components) on the inside.

It also allows for mounting configurations in about any way your imagination can come up with.

That and it looks unique, cool, like vomit - any number of descriptions. :p

I don't get it.
Weight system?

Is that along the lines of "I could tell you but I'd have to kill you?"...

I have no comprehension of what you're trying to do there...

Think of it as a replacement for sandbags, gravel filled milk jugs or cement filled butt stocks. Sprinkle in a little, "What the hell is that?" and your recipe is done.

;)

Or a replacement for shooting bags or rifle rests.

I'm a little confused. Isn't the bipod the replacement for shooting bags and rests? What is the purpose of hanging weight off the barrel?
