That is pretty damn sweet.... what was the occasion?

I love the engraving... course, selling it now is out of the question :D

This G27 is my new issued backup gun. The engraving is something our department has Glock do on our newest G27s. I shot 18 rounds today at the range, and suprisingly, the gun was quite controllable, and accurate, even though it is such a small, light gun with a short barrel....

Yet another reason to be PROUD to live in GEORGIA!!!

And another reason to brag about Kennesaw too ;)

There for a minute, I thought maybe you went to the Chief and told him you were "out of compliance" with the law, and they gave you one. :)

Congrats. I like mine too.

The name on my G27 is the name of our current Chief of Police, our badge is also present. Our dept pays approximately 58 bucks (more or less) extra for the engraving. Our dept is one, of only a handful of depts that has Glock engrave its guns. The engraving option is only offered to Law Enforcement agencies. The engraving is done in Austria.

Light,

totally off topic here but is Stan Davis still at the dept?

was a good friend of mine years back.......kinda lost touch.

Why aibute to the Chief of Police. That seems like a little ego boost for him, and not very practical if he leaves office.

For our dept, they engraved the Chief's name, not mine. I don't order the guns, but I think Glock has the LE option package on these guns set up so they etch the name of the Chief/Sheriff of the agency requesting this option on it. I could be wrong there, but I think thats how it works.

I am not aware of any Stan Davis's at Kennesaw. What did he used to do there?

I've long toyed with the idea of becoming a cop. And yes, I've always known that they get guns issued to them. But somehow the name of this thread and the picture together really bring it home. Man you guys get it good.

Almost enough to make me take the plunge and sign up even though I've finally resigned myself to my calling (I had to resign myself to it and I've long resisted because there is NO money and tons of politics). I NEED to work with kids in education and mental health. I will teach (at least continue as a sub) while in grad school to be a school psychologist. Darn it, now you got me questioning that again (not for the money this time, but for the "toys").:D

Out of curiosity - what is your duty sidearm? Does your dept. stick to the one manual of arms philosophy?

Chaim -- cops are social workers, too -- and really depressed about it. :) I work with kids AND cops on a regular basis -- and LEO's have been a great source for gun (they say "weapon") info.

Chaim -- cops are social workers, too...

I've talked to some before who complained about that. Funny, it made the job sound even more appealling to me.

Some cops even work in the schools with kids. A friend of mine (from way back- I've known her since high school) is a cop working on the DARE program. She teaches a class in a high school for the program and is indistinguishable from any other teacher while there (of course she has a gun and cuffs concealed on her person and the power to arrest if need be and they don't). Of course before she could get that job she had to have several years experience with the department.

Gee, I better stop before I actually talk myself into it. :D

Hey Lightsped!

I've had my G27 since '98. For me, it's the most accurate pistol I have. No foolin'! Various injuries and illnesses have taken away my 20/10 vision and my hands tremble a little, however I can still keep all my groups in the center of the target, in an area about the size of a man's fist at 25 feet. I can do this with NO other pistol I own. Strange, but true.
