My last gun show for a time

"If you check out what it costs to rent a table you will understand why there are no deals anymore. The promoters have ruined it IMO. "

Amen....end of story..............

I LOVE the gun shows. I always find a little treasure. Two shows ago I got my hands on some hard to find PPK and PPK/S white grips. The guy even had two white finger extensions made of pure elephant ivory. He wanted $75.00 for all of it. I knocked a finger out of joint getting my wallet out of my pocket. Every now and then someone is selling an old Walther that comes home with me. There are always guys walking around trying to sell something out of their collection and sometimes you can get a deal.

Oh, and then there's the guy selling the foam airplanes and little electric helicopters...I never buy anything from him.

LOL

We get people such as, that, ninja's, lights, knives, pamper chef, tape, old military gear that smells and things you dont need. :D

Much hate for gunshows. :o

I remember when I used to get up as early as possible on gunshow days to hit the tables first. Now I cruise over to the show after I wake up and have breakfast...whenever I'm ready.

There are always at least a few curios there and sometimes I see rare, musty old military/gun history books of interest. Again, nothing you can't find online, but what are you going to do, plant yourself permanently in your Lazy Boy with a feeding tube and remote control? :o

I'm getting ready to bang my head against a brick wall.

I was half-heartedly watching a gunbroker auction for a brand new FNX 9 with 3-17 rd mags and no reserve. Some lucky chap picked it up for $406 tax free!!:mad: Should have been me. Imagine trying to bargain with any gunshow merchant to get near that price for a new FNX 9. I don't like begging or arguing. The web makes it easy to lay down your offer and not worry either way.

LONG LIVE THE INTERNET!!

Hell that's the best reason to go to gun shows.

Every show is different. Some shows, yeah there's a lot of overpriced junk, but just don't buy it. I go to smaller town gun shows where I find locals trying to unload something they either don't need, or need money worse than the gun. Mostly I'm looking for old stuff-- I'd never go to a gun show for new "tacti-cool" stuff, but then, you'd have to chase me down to put that stuff in my pocket. I prefer blued steel and American walnut myself.

There are lots of good deals to be had, but as someone said you have to do your research and know what you want. If that's a brand new gun, buy it online. If you want an older gun, want to ask questions about the gun, look at it, look in it, look down the barrel and inside the action, drool over it, and generally get to know something about the gun, then a gun show is the place to be. I buy probably more than my share of stuff from Gunbroker and other online sites, but nothing beats picking up the actual gun and looking it over before laying down cash for it.
