My first time taking pictures

Croz, you can leave the "decent camera" off the list. I use a crappy little 3 megapixel Canon Elph that we have had for nearly 10 years or so. :)
 
Playboypenguin has it right; always use a tripod, no flash, and a timer for the shutter. A remote shutter release helps, too.

My light box was made with a mostly transparent plastic storage box ($7) lined with a layer of tissue wrapping paper. Clamp on reflector lights and you're all set.

Shooting outdoors on an overcast day works pretty well, too. As long as you eliminate shadows and camera shake, you'll be OK.

And Photoshop for adjusting brightness and contrast.

Open a Photobucket account, fill it with pics, hold the cursor over a pic, click on "img code," paste into your forum text & post! Es facil.
